You don't mean Audacity recorded 30 seconds of flat-line track, do you? You mean you stopped for 30 seconds and Audacity failed to record the stop duration?
Sound Activated Recording will do that.

Re: Line-in recordings through interface
To keep that high channel count under control, Focusrite includes their acclaimed MixControl software for ultimate flexibility. Create up to six separate mono mixes or three stereo mixes, each routable to any of the Scarlett 18i6's outputs. Save your mixes for instant recall later on. Re-route your...

Re: Line-in recordings through interface
I need to sit and read the instructions, but this interface has a four-channel output and unless you sacrifice the appropriate small furry animals, Audacity may only see the first two. If the unit is placing the guitar on 3 and 4, Audacity will not see it.

Re: One Recorded Track, Unitentionally Recording To Another
You're not recording your audio device -- your mixer or microphone, or USB whatever. You're recording Stereo-Mix, What-U-Hear or one of those other "fake" devices that are used to record internet audio. When you do that by accident, Audacity will record the sum total of everything happenin...

Re: How do I mark points in the waveform?
In the case of this particular tool, you know that when the sound gets louder, the size of the blue waves goes up. The Envelope Tool is a overlay that you can grab with your mouse and force the blue waves to go up and down wherever and however many times you want. This is a cross-fade, where the top...

That doesn't seem to give any Google hits. Can I assume it's a laptop? How many USB connections does it have? If it's a laptop, it may run out pretty quickly. If you plugged the USB equipment in the original shipment into the laptop by way of a USB Concentrator or Hub... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...

Re: using audacity to improve sound on a facebook video file
If you install FFMpeg from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ Audacity will open up the sound tracks of many different videos directly. Then Effect > Equalization and either draw the curve with your mouse, or use the preset sliders by selecting "Graphic Equalizer." You can also use ...

Wrong English.
It should always be possible to access a show by double clicking on the associated AUP project manager file. This works on all three platforms -- including the GUIs on the linux variations.

Re: Wave Form and Volume Low Since Using 2.0
Yes, Vista and Win7 have Enhanced Services to make video and audio conferencing better. One of them tries to cancel out what it perceives as environment noise (air conditioner hum). That also usually kills music as well, but normal WInXP doesn't have that. OK, back to basics. What are you recording ...
