Re: Trying to record What I Hear and my Mic
If your friend is on one of the earlier version of Windows, then we're not shocked that he/she can get this to work and you can't. WinXP (and even Win2K) would do multiple mixing like this with no trouble. The problem is most people couldn't handle the complexity of multiple convoluted mixer panels ...

Re: Trying to record What I Hear and my Mic
Recording one single real device like a microphone is how Windows comes out of the factory. If you can do that, your computer is normal. Stereo-Mix is an accidental service that allows recording multiple sound sources and more importantly, internet audio. If you're missing Stereo Mix, or the ability...

Re: Recording windows 7 Pro 64 bit (HDMI)
Some newer Windows machine don't have Stereo-Mix. HDMI Audio is the audio track that goes down the HDMI connection to your monitor or TV. You don't need the separate audio cables any more like you did with DVI or earlier video connections. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_audi...

Re: Music off of Youtube?
Probably step one; AUP isn't a sound file. It's an Audacity Project Manager. So you didn't send us anything useful. Export as a real sound file (WAV MP3) and send that. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 Next step, we have no trouble at all performing Sound-On-Sound or Over...

Re: cd burning
Most burn manager programs have a selection where you can pick between Data CD and Music CD. You've been picking Data CD which appears like a flat shiny hard drive with files on it -- not necessarily music. Those will not play in a Music Player. Pick Music CD.

Re: LAUSON CASSETTE CONVERTER TO MP3 RECORDING PROBLEMS
I'm prompted by reading the question again to ask whether or not you can make a recording, or whether you can hear what you're doing. Those two are very different. Do you get the bonding red recording meters when you play a tape and you just can't hear it?

Re: LAUSON CASSETTE CONVERTER TO MP3 RECORDING PROBLEMS
Nobody has a Lawson. It's a tiny company with limited subscribers and chances of finding one here on a small, limited international forum are zero, so we have to work with generic principles. Close Audacity. Unplug the Lawson and restart the computer. Plug the Lawson in and let the computer chew on ...

Did you miss a word or two?
When I export a piece of audio as an MP3...
MP3 is a video format. It's full name is MPEG1, Layer 3 and it conforms to video framing constraints. never do production in MP3.

Re: Minidisc Digital Capture, Best Settings?
Unless the instructions contradict me, I suspect this process is similar to the Sony Hi Def broadcast video machines we have. The video is gently compressed on the tape, but uncompressed going in and coming out. The tape process is transparent to the user (except we have to choose the right tape com...
