Here's an item about the change that Mac OS-X made to hidden folders. It's been like this since Lion, but would have changed if you did a clean install.

Re: convert MP3 creted to au files
Never do production in MP3. MP3 creates distortion every time you make a new one, so when you clean up in audacity and make a new MP3, the MP3 may have more distortion than the original. You should not worry about the AU files. Those are internal Audacity housekeeping files and not all of them are s...

Re: Folders for audio CD
No. When they were designing the format in the Paleolithic Era, there was no good music compression, so they needed to save as much space as they could. No metadata, no track titles, no CD name, barely a file format and no folders. Almost all CD Authoring Programs will let you arrange the music howe...

Re: vinyl ripping setup help!
Your entertainment amplifier has Phono-In and Tape-Out, right? Connect the turntable to the Phono-In (remember to connect that little black grounding wire). Connect the amplifier Tape-Out to the Mac with one of these. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg It's the connection with the ...

Re: Not Writable Error Message
Did you put a date in the filename? Don't put any punctuation marks in a filename. I know you can on some Macs, but that's not a good idea. I have to push Mac files all over the company around the earth, so I don't use spaces, either. You can use dash and underscore. Today is not 8/22/12, it's 20120...

Re: HDMI and Audacity incompatible
Oh and the little thing on the side of the Mac is a displayport or Thunderbolt, not HDMI, unless you have a much larger Mac that actually has HDMI connections. You didn't describe the computer at all. Which screen shuts down?

Re: HDMI and Audacity incompatible
I know writing these when you're frustrated is hard, but I read that three times and I can't figure out what the goal is. What are you trying to do? HDMI should appear as a destination picture and sometimes sound, and you should be able to play anything to it from any application.

Re: can not import .wav file
Before you go off making unwarranted assumptions, let's tell Windows to stop hiding file extensions so you can tell what you really have. -- Hidden File Extensions -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > [ ] Hide Extensions for Known File Types (deselect) -- Apply (to this folder) o...

How do you know the music system supports MP3 playback? Sony model number?
If you put the disk back in your computer can the computer open up the music and play it?
