I should warn you that Audacity will not apply any effects in real time. It's straight pass through.

Re: audio pass-through
Install Audacity and open it up. Using the Device Toolbar, select your input and output 'devices'. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.html Audacity Preferences > Recording > [X] Playthrough Click once in the red recording meters and the monitoring system should wake up and pass your...

Re: USB Needledrop?
Low-Level, delicate, easily damaged, mono Mic-In is very different from High-Level, Robust, Powerful, Stereo, Line-In. You can't plug one into the other. To get modern PC laptops to record stereo, we have been known to recommend the Behringer UCA202. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA2...

Re: No recording device
Stereo Mix and internet recording are not guaranteed services like playing music into headphones or recording your microphone. Particularly on modern Windows machines, the guaranteed service tends to be the ability to conference into the corporate video system. So no, if you couldn't find it, it may...

MP3 isn't a continuous format. It has "frames" like film. http://brennigjones.com/blog/wp-content/countdown_film.jpg There's no such thing as producing sound on a half-frame or 2/3 of a frame. The system will always build itself out to the next even, whole frame. Never do production in MP3...

Re: Suppression of Cameraman's Breathing in a TV Interview T
Effect > High Pass Filter, 120Hz. You might not need the compander if the breathing wasn't very loud. You only need that if it was loud enough to grab the camera's auto gain control. You might try Chris's Compressor at its default settings to even out the rest of the interview. I use it to even out ...

Re: When I export, won't play
OK, I admit this isn't a normal problem. Export what you consider a normal, short MP3 and post it here.

Re: Not Writable Error Message
now in ITunes waiting to be burned. Music CDs do not carry album names or song titles. When you put a store-bought Music CD into a computer, the computer goes on-line to figure out what the song titles are. They're not on the disk. Yours won't be either. There is a way to create a special, odd stan...

One more piece, if you're going to monitor the sound through the Mac, it may drive you nuts. The Mac speaker and headphone output will always be "one computer late" and have an echo. Audacity > Preferences > Recording > Software Playthrough.

Re: Don't know what to do ...
If you have a very slightly older Mac, it should have a Stereo Line-In of very good quality. It's the thin circle with two fat black arrows. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn.jpg One of these should do it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg Using the Audacity Device ...
