Re: Cursor functionality needs dramatic improvement
...It is fascinating and frustrating how Simplicity is so hard to 'Get'. Simplicity is a very expensive product. Search on a Mac is very simple and the latest OSs include "Spotlight" which is blindly fast and always seems to know what you want before you do. Search on a Windows machine is...

Re: iTunes won't play an edited project
A very common problem is to save the new work at the old filename -- hoping to replace the old work. That coupled with the fact that Audacity will not save a sound file means you probably loaded and played the old song. There should be an AUP file and a _DATA folder somewhere on your machine with th...

Re: Audio File Opens In Audacity 2.x With No Sound
Can you play them in Windows Media? If they're really MP3 files, they should play OK. Are you assuming they're MP3 files, or did you tell Windows that you want to view filename extensions? -- Hidden File Extensions -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > [ ] Hide Extensions for Know...

Re: Crackle on recording
It's an electronic piano, right? Does it have touch? Some pianos don't. Is the distortion less if you play quietly? You're plugged into the Mic-In of your laptop, right? (pink) http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg There is no other programme running and the microphone (mono, seri...

Re: Issue making podcast
Describe the show. Where is the music? Get technical. Where is the microphone and what kind is it? People doing audio (or video) production for the first time are usually shocked at how slow their machine is and how much disk space they need. I'll stay with the idea that you can make any kind of sho...

Re: Save/Save as
In general, you Save As the first time so that Audacity will ask you for a name to call the show. MyFirstProject Until you get more into this, only use "safe" characters in your names. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscrore and dash. After that, every time you press "Save&...

Re: Why cant i hear it play on another format
Do you have something selected? I don't know what will happen to Audacity if you select nothing and then tell it to Export Selection. What happens if you just Export and pick a name for the file.
Also, what happens if you open up the new file in Audacity? Do you get a flat blue line?

Re: Undo A Phaser Effect After Saved?
Audacity Projects do not save undo and most music formats don't, either. While I know it's tempting to assume that since we have access to the programming for the effects, it should be possible to UNDO them by reversing the programming, in practice it's a lot more involved. If you submitted that pro...
