Re: "Right" loudness levels

Assuming you don't want volume changes to the show within the show and assuming you don't need any more production, editing or effects, then many of us Effect > Amplify (to -1, not 0). That will put the one single loud peak in the whole show at almost the loudest it can be without sound damage. Ther...

Re: Unlocking cursor position

I have been of the opinion for a long time that this tool breaks far more often than simply a software glitch. We leap to fix it, but we never ask, "Did you turn on [Snap To] while you were learning Audacity or learning to edit?"

"What did you think it did?"

Re: Poor recording from mixer using RCA to USB cable

I think that's what I'm trying to understand. So the show is already going back and forth between the computer and the N4 with Serato managing the pathways and directions. I think you ran out of sound pathways. There's no way to catch the sound that's on its way out to the speakers without a second ...

Re: Editing files

I couldn't read your post, so I put the color back to black.

Audacity doesn't do drag. Highlight or drag-select a portion of your show, File > Export Selected and pick a filename. Where is it going next? If it's for further production, you should stay in WAV.

You should take that sound file and play it on something else.

Re: Exporting 96khz file as 192khz

there is no harm in using the higher resolution. Other than space. Computers are always a tradeoff between the room you have and the quality of the work. For one popular example, when you're running on the beach, you'll never hear reduced sound quality over the seagulls and surf and you have a very...

Re: Video with poor volumn

The steps in the middle are well known, but I'll skip to the part that kills most people. We can produce a nice sound track, but how are you going to get it back into the video? To do that, you need a good competent video editor. Audacity can't do that. Good competent video editors generally come wi...

Re: Enabling input devices.

I guess it can't be solved. Or, the latest versions of Windows do not include the mistake that was included in the earlier versions. Windows laptops are business computers. Stereo-Mix can create problems with corporate conferencing. Most Macs can't naturally do this, either for stability reasons. Koz

Re: "Sorry, Plug-in Effects cannot be performed..." notice

Whose reverb? The Audacity built-in one? Does it work on any one of the other tracks? Describe briefly the show. How many tracks do you have and where did the work come from? Are you mixing down a production built around a rock concert capture and interview? Are you building a show out of "Foun...
