Re: Mistake exporting to mp3

I don't know of any way to rescue the work. Audacity mixes down to a straight stereo show on export. You're in the boat of extracting one of the eggs from an omelet. Save the Project. Select one of them and File > Export Selected. Repeat with the other. Being a compulsive engineer, I export each val...

Re: Lost my external mic connection on both IMac and MBP

Neither MBP nor iMac have Mic-In. I think they will both support headset systems like the headset on an iPhone, and they will both support any USB or Optical Digital Audio. And Built-In microphone. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. If it's not there, you don't have it. Audacity ...

Re: Increase Sound of One Voice

I just spent an hour recording a podcast on audacity How? What software were you in when you were recording the interview? iChat? Skype? Vidyo? If you were using software that provides separate audio channels for incoming and outgoing, then you can easily pick one voice and amplify or apply effects...

Re: Super basic usage question

Most of the tools do not work if you're in Pause instead of Stop. So Press Stop, drag-select the work and press your delete key. You can get even more accurate by drag-selecting more than the work, and zoom into it by pressing Control-E. Then drag select the work you want to delete -- now much large...

Re: how do I use turntable with a USB port into a MAC

First, close Audacity. All the sound should be coming down the USB cable to your Mac and it doesn't matter where the Line/Phono switch is on the turntable. Plug the turntable into one of the USB connections. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. You should see some USB thing listed ...

Also called "scrubbing" which is why you may have missed it. I associate scratching with what the vinyl DJs do.

Re: Latency Test using Zoom H4 as Interface

I see where you're going with that. The jumper technique called out in the latency setup instructions. Use the headphone/microphone thing. That's the latency you'll be singing to anyway. The jumper cable is a shortcut and doesn't take into account the ballistics of the microphone or what latency and...

Re: Fraunhofer MP3 (l3codecp.acm) on Audacity

For the specific genre I'm using, this is not the case.
Which is? And what are the differences?

Re: Latency Test using Zoom H4 as Interface

Recording Latency is adjustable in Audacity using any number of different methods including the famous click track plus jamming the headphone into the microphone trick. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/w/images/9/9c/GTrackEarBuds.jpg The problem is always Real Time Latency which will prevent you from he...

Re: ***Lag after switching sample rate?***

The instant you run out of memory for the show, Audacity (and any program) has to swap work out to the hard drive. That puts performance in the trash bin. If we're the first time you ever had to do live audio (or video) and not spreadsheets, email or Photoshop files, it's a shock how fast you run ou...
