Re: Too much sound gain
Gale is the Good Cop. Now the Bad Cop. Overload/clipping is a certified way to kill a show. You can make the distortion quieter, but you can't make it any less distorted. This bites Windows users sooner or later because most Windows laptops don't have a Stereo Line-In connection. The Microphone-In c...

Re: Recording Phone Conversations through handset or headpho
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone Your welcome, but you can do that when it starts working. Typical Voice over Internet Protocol systems do not get along with Audacity. You get only one side of the conversation but not both. Did you get his/her name? There may be special softw...

Re: Suddenly I can't export a file and save as MP3
Automatic Updates typically does security updates and bumps you from iTunes .0003 to iTunes .0004, and adds functionality to one of the BlueTooth tools. Housekeeping stuff like that. Sliding between major operating systems is not generally an "update." Particularly not when they can get yo...

Re: Suddenly I can't export a file and save as MP3
Can you get to the folder indicated with Go > Go To Folder > and then type the pathway name?
If you can't get to it manually, then that's the problem Audacity had. More as we find out.

Re: Suddenly I can't export a file and save as MP3
It's probably not "suddenly." You changed machines or did an upgrade or made some other relatively major system change like that. A change from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion causes all sorts of problems because ML hides the system folder and SL doesn't. You could also have tried to do a co...

Re: Embedding Audacity into a wiki
I should use all the English words. She recorded her students and posted the WAV (or MP3, or whatever) on a location on her server or other data system. Then she prepared a wiki entry to point to that location or server. I think there's a way to embed sound inside a wiki, but since advanced wiki ent...

Re: .aup files play 5 secs only... if at all
This problem may have nothing to do with the Audacity version. When Audacity creates a show with your music files in it, the older default was to not make personal, internal copies of the music. When Audacity got to the place in the timeline when it needed the music, it went out and got it -- and th...

Re: First time user info conformation
I understand that making each chapter of the book a separate file and uploading it to the CD creator Music CD Authoring Programs usually have a option where you tell it not to use the standard 2-second gap between "songs." You can put any number in there, but you want zero so the work flo...

Re: Recording Phone Conversations through handset or headpho
There is no "email format." Email will attach anything that fits in the size limitations of the provider. I think last time I looked, Yahoo Mail has a 20MB attachment limit. You could not convert the sound to anything but simply divide it up into 19MB segments and ship them one by one. The...

Re: Audacity 2.0.1 crashes on Mac Mountain Lion during recor
I have a Mini old enough to have one USB connection be erratic. Try a different connection and you consistently have trouble with one, put in a hub for keyboard and mouse and leave the busted one blank. Do Not Run Audacity through a hub. Audacity needs a clean home run. And don't edit a question wit...
