Re: Good and portable mic for trip

You posted in a section of the forum where we can't tell what kind of computer you have, but if you're on a Mac, you can use the built-in mic. I've shot temporary voice tracks for television productions with mine. Nobody is rushing to give me Academy Awards for the work, but most people couldn't tel...

Re: Error Message: Couldn't find the project data folder

How much chocolate have you got? Open up the AUP file in any text editor and in the first two or three lines of words should be the original title of the show. Rename the file and folder back to the original, make sure the file and folder are in the same place or folder, double click on the AUP file...

Re: Additional approah to Peak Pruning

Oh, one more item. Even though my sister and I are speaking from different distances with very different voices, our sibilents are the same. SSS and FFF sound the same between us, so you can't use those to figure out who's speaking. Once you lose those, the rest of speech becomes rubbish. Koz

Re: Additional approah to Peak Pruning

My impression of the discussion is a lab experiment that ignores many real-world problems. I think the only part of that which would work is having two different sound sources arriving at a very good stereo microphone system from different directions. It should be possible to tell directional inform...

Re: Using Effects in Audacity - to remove "echo"

The Logitech Desk Microphone and the headset are both " close" microphones. They're directional, have significant echo cancellation and a low frequency droop to help eliminate popping P sounds and room rumble. They sound tight like the communications microphones they are. The WebCam is a m...

The question was about Disaster Recovery and there doesn't seem to be anything on that page about that. Koz

Re: Looking for recommendations on recording mic via usb

The forum has a limited ability to host files. If you want to post a major concert, you should do it on one of the free posting web sites.

Re: When dubbing pause botton jumps

Overdubbing/Multitrack/Sound-On-Sound stresses the computer. It has to perform a stereo mix of the existing tracks in real time and play those to you at the exact time that it's processing your recording bitstream and putting it on disk. If your computer is too busy to do all of those tasks at once,...

Re: changing ouput level

What are the shows? Internet "radio" shows are notorious for volume and loudness variations. They don't go through broadcast transmitter sound processing, so they're just as they were recorded in the studio -- sometimes badly, sometimes not. Even, for one example, the Rachel Maddow show ha...

Re: Low Buzzing when recording and others

Buzz and hum on a USB microphone is pretty unusual, but not entirely out of the question. This microphone gets its power from the USB connection and if there's anything wrong with that, it can cause the sound to be bad. Change the USB connection if you have more than one and make sure the connection...
