Re: Repeatedly getting garbled audio while recording.
Some part of the system is not going fast enough to handle real time audio. Each of those little ticks and crunches is the system gasping for air. If you have a new or relatively new computer, then we need to look somewhere else. Did you run your USB microphone through a hub with your keyboard and m...

Re: Sync problem with export multiple
I've never actually run into this, but Audacity does not export the blank spots you made with the Time Shift Tool. The time shift appears in the final show assuming you mixed the whole thing down to one track, but not if you export one single track. I don't know that there is an easy way around this...

Re: Mic to Headphone Latency
The one where you sing in perfect time and it appears on the recorded track in perfect time is Recording Latency and we got that one licked. That's a slider in setup. See instructions. The one where you arrive in your headphones late compared to your live performance is machine latency and you're st...

Re: Creating backups
Has anybody ever used the Windows backup tools? They exist but I don't know how they work or what they do. This would seem to be perfect for you. Koz

Re: digitizing 45 rpm vinyl
And don't forget the velocity thing. Phono styluses are designed to vibrate really well at audio rates. Playing a record off-speed means the stylus will not accurately follow the lumps in the groove. The vibrations will either be too slow and the whole cartridge tries to follow the undulations inste...

Re: remove violin from instrumental mp3
There's lots of questions about remixing music, "make the violin louder, delete the drums, move the trumpets, etc. Can't do any of it. Your ears can tell when a trumpet and violin are in the song at the same time, but software is clueless. It's all wiggling blue waves to the program.

Re: digitizing 45 rpm vinyl
there seems to be no discussion on the advantages of 'lower speed transfers' That's because there aren't any. Transferring 78s without a proper 78 player has super serious problems and the only reason we post the process is that the only other option is to not transfer at all. Speed changes in Auda...

All WAV files are data files. CD burning programs have an option where you specify Music or Data.

Re: I NEED HELP WITH AUDACITY AND MY MICROPHONE!
The Behringer Xenyx 302 does not have a switch for phantom power. Phantom power is always on. (I googled for that.) That is insanely dangerous. I understand why they did that. In theory, it shouldn't make any difference. Phantom Power is designed to disappear in normal operation, but if you plug a ...

Re: Trying to copy recordings on Olympus Digital Voice Recor
I have a plug in the back of my computer with a music note over it. That's a new variation. If you have other connections, how are they labeled? What kind of computer is it? That cable should work. Connect the device headphone connection to the Mic-In of your computer. Most Windows laptops only hav...
