Re: mic input volume
It's not unusual for USB microphones to only set volume on the microphone itself. Did you try the Audacity tool bar volume control? http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/mixer_toolbar.html Also, it's happened that you only get volume controls when you load the software for the device -- although that...

Re: Windows 7
Since you had Windows problems, it's better than even chance your Windows Sound Services got reset. What you have is one of the symptoms of "Enhanced Services" or conference call noise suppression. This could appear in many different places, but this is the most common. http://manual.audac...

Re: New logo
I fondly remember the firestorm the last time we tried this. Past the obvious problem of having it look terrific on all three platforms and four or five different versions and revisions (will Audacity run on Windows 98?) Audacity doesn't have a Chief Executive Officer. There is no tie breaker sittin...

Re: creating a file of just the bass
I was going to suggest the equalizer tool, but same thing. A heavily filtered bass line is going to sound like a truck going by, a supersonic jet or an earthquake. The flavor, quality, fingering and complexity of the notes are all up much higher -- but you'll figure that out. It may be enough to get...

Re: Splitting Vocals Into Left And Right Channels
I can think of some painful ways to do it. Using the track drop-down (on the left) > Split Stereo track. That gives you two timed mono tracks -- left will be on top. Drag-select the parts you don't want and silence them with Control-L. Then Drop-Down > Make Stereo Track. The disadvantage of this is ...

You're causing a bit of concern with the elves. This is a first-ever failure of this kind.
Congratulations!

Re: help needed! data recording seems to be missing
You should probably make safety copies of all your original files and place them in a separate folder while we hash this out. All the little .au files past about the fourth one should open up and play in Audacity. As you said, they're tiny files and each one has a snippet of the show. Don't mess wit...

Re: help needed! data recording seems to be missing
Did you "clean up" or otherwise manage the files on your computer? The AUP file and the _DATA folder of the same name need to be in the same place or folder. You can't split them. Double click the AUP file and it will open the _DATA folder and piece together all the little snippets back in...
