Re: microphone suggestions
It's hard to beat the Logitech Desktop Microphone. It's cheap, directional, and of reasonable quality. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/microphones Very few microphones are going to eliminate your environment. If you're recording in your mum's kitchen it's pretty much always going...

Re: Setting up Adacity to record DJ mixes
http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg That's the setup for overdubbing/sound-on-sound, but you can put the headphones wherever you want. That's a Behringer UCA202. It's not the only one that will do this, but it's the one I/we have the most experience with. That's connected t...

Re: "Stuttering" Glitch
Did you get to Mt Lion by continuously upgrading one computer, or is this a new machine? Is the USB audio system a home run, or are you going through a USB hub? How full is the machine? Are you doing many different tasks a the same time as the capture? How many things have positive markers under the...

In other words, forget the oddball bass boost, your voice is fine as it is.
You two should talk.

Re: kick drum only (beat only)
Nope. Particularly at the low end, everything sounds the same. Everything, as you found out, sounds like a truck going by. Bass notes from most instruments tend to cluster around the note they're playing, but the quality of the note is carried in the overtones and harmonics. Drums don't work like th...

Re: Error: Couldn't find the project data folder PLEASE HELP
The AUP file and the _DATA folder should be in the same place or folder. If you moved either of them, then the show will not open. Double click on the AUP file and it should find the _DATA folder and open the show. You can't rename anything or clean up. If you changed the name of anything the show m...

Re: White Noise / Static (Another one)
Right. Set the equalizer and compression controls to neutral or zero. The top "gain" control has a little mark at about 10 o'clock. I don't know that I've ever used a gain control that low, but your mixer may be an exception. That's the first thing your microphone hits when it enters the m...

Re: Can't filter grinder noise completely
I poke fun at our two Little Dutch Boys (both well over 6' tall) that spoken Dutch sounds like pots and pans falling down the stairs. As a training exercise, I'd say this was a success. You learn nothing if the show goes smoothly. If I or the producer was in love with the location, we would stop rec...

Re: How to bring the bass vocal range up in the mix
Even if all you did was add reverb/echo that would go a long way, but Audacity's GVerb may not be the place to go for that. It's a tool to build an echo tool, not the tool itself. Post some of your voice and we'll see what can be done. You can do a very short chunk here... http://forum.audacityteam....

Re: How to bring the bass vocal range up in the mix
You're dangerously close to asking, "Which effect makes me into a famous singer." We're working on that one. They're all lip-syncing in the video. The real voice was recorded something like this. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/wynonna2.jpg Anything you do to a voice track brings up noise a...
