Re: Transfering USB Turntable to WAV file's and then onto a
I don't see any reason why not. Help > About Audacity. When you set the whole thing up to play a record for capture, do you see bouncing red sound meters and crawling blue timeline like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg That's your confirmation that your are actually gettin...

Re: level out pitch
Are you trying to even out loudness or volume? Pitch is which note on the piano. E is higher pitch than C. You might try Chris's Compressor. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ Chris is a broadcast compressor that gently evens out loudness variations in you...

Re: New user version and 'skipping' questions...
Either Audacity > About Audacity or Help > About Audacity. You're generally safe if you're in the "2" versions. Latest 2.02 is recommended. Stuttering, cracking, popping, and other run problems can be caused by your USB connection going through a hub instead of straight on. USB Home Runs o...

Re: How to bring the bass vocal range up in the mix
I'm remembering that shoot. We were doing voice tracks for a cartoon bidding. Multiple people around the company with very different voices were invited to read for the parts. "You're the girl sniggle 'Onni' with the high squeaky voice. Read from the second paragraph." That black cloth is ...

Re: How to bring the bass vocal range up in the mix
Directional microphones have Proximity Effect where your bass goes up as you get closer. It's the "rock and roll band at the local watering hole" effect. As you drive up to find parking all you can hear are the bass guitar and Woof Woof Woof vocals. Also known as an SM58. http://www.sweetw...

Re: Sound evaluation. for instruments evaluation.
I can hear the musicians rearing up to complain that the ear can detect variations that the instruments can't handle, but yes, there are analysis tools. This is given you have a dead quiet, echo-free room and a very good microphone -- two things you're not likely to have. One is analyze > Plot Spect...

Re: Static while recording, sometimes
When you do these, you don't have to put the needle on anything. Just start a recording and leave the arm parked. Go away for a half-hour. Set your cellphone to ring. Come back and see if there are any static bursts on the timeline (Control-F to see the whole thing). One of the fun things about an u...

Re: Audacity can't find USB Cassette Drive
Did you check Mac system preferences?
Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input.
If it doesn't appear there, then it failed to mount and the rest of the machine will never find it.
