The AUP file is not "the full show." It's the directory of how to put the little au files back together into a concert.
Disaster recovery got very much better in the later versions of Audacity.

They're in the drop-down to the left of the track.

Re: Unwanted audio on home video
It's the Photoshop Clone Stamp tool. Borrow a bough of leaves from somewhere close (to keep the lighting right) and stamp it over the bird. If you only do it once, few people can tell without another Photoshop to rip the picture apart. If you go nuts with the tool, you get the stupid pictures where ...

Re: Audacity freezes and stops responding when I edit record
normally all you need to is check that the defrag is scheduled to occur when the computer is switched on. But you're not using it? Wouldn't performing a defrag in the middle of a production session or recording slow things down? Also performing a defrag manually is an adventure. It never completes ...

Re: echoed sound after recording when listen to playback
I'm pretty sure what that one is. Windows Enhanced Services. Windows machines are not music recorders, they're voice conference machines and so they default to processing your voice. If you don't put a voice in, some very strange things can happen. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_...

Re: Recording songs and having no bass
You did Effect > Vocal Removal on the original song and the gutless track is the result. Vocal Removal doesn't just take the voices out. It takes out everything in the stereo left-right middle and the bass notes happened to be in the middle. Many times drums go, too. Like this clip: http://kozco.com...
Re: no sound
When you record music in Audacity, the red recording meters dance and a wavy blue line appears on the timeline. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg If you don't get either of those, then you got a recording of silence. Set up to record and instead of pressing the red record button, c...

Re: Help with Noise Removal
Drag-select a portion of the show with noise only. No voices. Effect > Noise Removal > Profile.
Then drag-select or just select the show you want to clean and Effect > Noise Removal > Set the Sliders > OK.
That's the two sentence version of Noise Reduction.

Re: Help with Noise Removal
You have two problems with that clip. There is hum/buzz from possibly a bad microphone cable and there is also hiss from possibly a bad microphone preamplifier. Under the best conditions, we can produce a show with quiet spaces between the words, but noisy words. Also, once you remove the noise, it ...
