Re: Feedback request
I've been saving my wip as AUP files. I know it appears you've been saving a single sound file. Audacity Project are actually much more complex than that. This is an Audacity Project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The _DATA folder can have thousands of tiny sou...

those in the 'Recent file' list of which there are 10 at any one time. I never use "Recent Files." As you observe, that only holds ten entries. I always Export or Save to a specific place such as my desktop, a folder on my desktop, or possibly Music, or Documents. Any place I can easily f...

Re: Feedback request
I've applied the filter curve, rms normalization, et al and remove them as needed. The tools in Audiobook Mastering are for application to a whole chapter or segment after you get done editing and cleaning and intended to make the submission conform to ACX standards. They're not cleanup tools. Filt...

Re: ACX Check Shows Noise Floor Still Too High, RMS & Peak Passing
Home microphone almost always give low volume, so when someone presents with overly high volume, it rings bells. Also, you have very high background noise, both of those can be accounted for by a volume boost setting somewhere. This setting might also affect a second microphone, so it's good to reso...

Re: Feedback request
Behringer C-1 mic and UM-2 interface. I have one of those. One of each actually. Sounds good to me. I applied Audiobook mastering and everything fell into place except the background noise (Room Tone) just squeaked past , so I applied gentle Noise Reduction of the Beast (6, 6, 6). Good to go. Scree...

Re: ACX Check Shows Noise Floor Still Too High, RMS & Peak Passing
The first, number one, right off the bat, picture of this microphone I found had it positioned wrong for voice. These microphones are almost always directional, so if all you did was believe the pictures, you would be recording your cat on the floor. There is a very serious down side to producing an...

Re: Audacity stops recording when another process plays audio
I think you made a messy assumption way back at the beginning. Computers have two natural sound pathways: Application > Speakers or Headphones. Microphone or Sound Source > Application. That's the total. That's full stop. They don't naturally connect to each other. If you used the words "I play...

I think we can do some good. You see that round thing behind the grill? That's the part that catches your voice. That's the "front". Screen Shot 2020-08-03 at 7.55.47 PM.png So set up the microphone so it's upright.. Screen Shot 2020-08-03 at 7.55.17 PM.png .... and then pile books underne...

I though we frightened you off. A lot of these problems can be fixed.
Also remember that servicing is as we get to it and from multiple time zones away. The sun just went down here.
I need to look up the instructions for that microphone. As we go.
