Re: how do I record phone interviews

Is this perfect timing or what? There is no good, simple answer, so we are embarking on a research and fact gathering campaign. We don't want scared chickens every time somebody asks this. How is the interview person arriving? Be specific. "By Phone" tells us nearly nothing. Copper land-li...

Re: Static while recording, sometimes

I use Audacity to digitze vinyl. I found that the show is mono. Unless you're digitizing 78s you have a damaged capture system right out of the gate. It's not good to ignore symptoms even if they appear to have nothing to do with the complaint. Did the buffer setting make any difference? Gale asked...

Re: Is there a way to smooth a wave form?

It's always dangerous to start with the waveform and work backwards without hearing the performance. Those peaks may be the attack of the pick on the string and removing them will take all the spark and character out of the show. Post some of the show. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=4...

Re: Static while recording, sometimes

While I rip the waves apart, I found that the show is mono. There are two sound channels there, but they are identical. So if you think you're capturing the work in stereo, you're not.

This could drag us straight to wiring problems on your computer.

Re: Static while recording, sometimes

If you magnify the noise on the timeline, you find a great many sharp, vertical transitions between segments of music (three in this pix). It's very unlikely to get that kind of damage in analog land. It has to be during or after the signal becomes digital. It's very difficult to believe that adding...

Re: problem with line in recordin...recording from internal

Do you have a Stereo Line-In?

Circle with two black arrows.

Launch Audacity and use the selector next to the microphone icon to select "Built-In Input."

Re: Recording Piano using Audacity

You're welcome. I'm going on your description of existing recordings as sounding very good. Most Windows machines can't do that very well. I'm on a classic Mac laptop and I do have a very high quality stereo connection for recording. Koz

Re: Not recording :(

Plug everything together and turn everything on. Then start Audacity -- in that exact order. Look for the microphone symbol drop-down on the main edit window and see if you can find the USB device. It may say anything; it doesn't have to say Citronic. Select and make sure the volume controls are all...

Re: make voice sound angry (or stern)

See: Seth Macfarlane. Family Guy and The Cleveland Show. "...he also voices many of the shows' various characters" (Wikipedia).

And he does it by acting them. He doesn't speak the voices flat and filter each character differently.

Write back if you get something to work. Koz
