Re: Distortion When Multiple Audio Tracks Are Used
Don't be afraid to make it soft at first. Headbanger Rock downloads in iTunes are engineered to sound like that in post production, they're not recorded like that. If you try to make it all dense and loud while you're recording, you will quickly overload the system. Digital system overload sounds te...

Re: Continuous Background Hum - EZCAP cassette
But, that looks very bad, and it doesn't look like AC hum (since it's squared-off) No, but you could get that if power problems are affecting the A/D converter. Also if the ground of the mystery computer is fighting with the ground on the device. That could make the metal parts of either one go up ...

Re: Help needed with editing ASAP
Also it sounds a bit nasal and I want to sound more professional, like an announcement you would hear in a departmental store, so how could I achieve such an effect? That's a frequently asked question. Announcers are acting the part. That's not a vocal tone thing and there is no "actor" b...

Re: Continuous Background Hum - EZCAP cassette
Is this a 50Hz power country? The main interference happens at 100Hz, 200Hz, etc. and up. It almost has to be power supply or other power related problem. Does the machine get all its power from the USB connection? It may be overloading the computer's USB system. Can you plug headphones into the uni...

Re: Sound Design
Adding filters will cause controlled effects. Changing the sampling rate may cause complex, hard to quantify damage. I think I'd stay away from that one. Changing the accuracy of digital encoding can be more or less successful depending on who's doing the resampling. Results can range from amazingly...

Re: Newbie....Audacity for rehearsing?...
Audacity doesn't do anything in real time past record, play and timer.
No Effects.

Re: Sound
Audacity, Windows or both should see the device as "USB Sound Device" or something similar. Start with Windows Control Panels. You can have problems if you started Audacity before you plugged in the device. Restart Audacity and go Edit > Preferences > Devices.

Re: Generate starts its own track.
The Enter key as opposed to the OK button on the generate control panel? How does that get around the tools natural inclination to follow the cursor in the active timeline -- that is, I really did want to insert 1/2 of silence wherever the cursor is. I don't have the answers and I barely have the qu...

Re: Generate starts its own track.
In my all too fertile imagination, I would import or record a track, set one simple condition and Generate Noise, Generate Tone and Generate Touch-Tones and I would get four separate tracks, one above the other. I think the problem is you can't deselect a music track if it's the only thing there. Ma...
