Re: Can it record streaming IN/OUT audio simultaneously ?
Am I correct in concluding Audacity cannot record a VOIP call in both directions ? Yes, you're correct. Those calls establish special sound pathways so as to be able to apply echo cancellation, environment suppression, and auto gain control. Any attempt to mess with those services degrades the call...

Re: Problem with Audacity volume
Recording What-U-Hear, WAV-Out or Stereo-Mix runs the play and record sides of the computer at the same time. That's how it works. Depending on the sound card, it can get the playback sound after the speaker volume control and that's what you have. You can use software to do the capture. Total Recor...

Re: WHAT YOU HEAR
Some newer Windows machines make this very difficult and some machines need to add software to do it. Macs always have to add software that establishes the sound pathways. Some Win7 machines need that as well.

Re: Phone record/ Music
And since you seem to be in love with MP3, don't do that. Never do production in MP3. MP3 is a compressed delivery format and if you try editing and production with it, the compression damage will get worse and worse and you'll end up with a honky, bubbling show that's difficult to hear. Do everythi...

Re: Phone record/ Music
That's kind of a riot of different problems. The very best telephone interviews are "Double Headers" where both you and the performer record themselves at their own house in very high quality and then one sends the very high quality sound file to the other for marriage into the final show....

Re: Totally technical dummy needs help.
Audacity is a terrible forensics program. Chances are if you're the only one that can understand the words, they're not real words and this isn't going to go well. Try the telephone filter. Effects > High Pass Filter > 300, and then Effects > Low Pass Filter > 3000. That may help suppress hiss, nois...

Re: Can it record streaming IN/OUT audio simultaneously ?
whether WinXP or 7 ... I think in the telephony market called 'full-duplex' It makes a lot of difference. Yes, both systems are full duplex, but they don't cross. The microphone always goes out and YouTube always comes in, simultaneously. Full Duplex. The problem when you're recording as a third pr...

Re: Can it record streaming IN/OUT audio simultaneously ?
Is this a round-about way of asking can we record both sides of a Skype call? No. But Total Recorder can do that and we used to recommend FreeCorder. We should probably stop.
