Re: Unwanted muting of a stereo track. why?
You can get burned with this because if you have SOLO pushed anywhere in the show, that will take over all the other tracks.

Re: Ideas for a Class Project
Our favorite data structure is the Audacity Project. Audacity saves shows as Projects and does not save sound files. If you need a stand-alone sound file, you have to Export one from your timeline. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_projects.html "My computer crashed while I was savi...

Re: Record using Stereo or Mono for playback through headpho
Do you have two blues waves on your timeline like this?

I'm guessing you only have one because you used the Mic-In of your Windows laptop to record your show. Mic-In is mono.
Let us know.

Can't you make an association in Windows? Right-click the file > Properties > Opens with: > Change.
It is a little squirrelly that a Microsoft WAV file doesn't immediately try to open up in Windows Media.

Re: Can't turn playthrough off when recording
And to address the computer latency, not being able to hear yourself in real time is normal with newer computers. You are listening to your voice going through the sound card and possibly the driver processing and then turning around and going through it all again so you can hear it. You are listeni...

Re: Disastrous White Noise Conundrum (Round 232319)
One really popular noise source: do you use lamp dimmers? Those are notorious for creating noise. Either run the lights all the way up or all the way off. We have a conference room where you can't use the pretty "expression lights" along the wall. They make noise.

Re: Disastrous White Noise Conundrum (Round 232319)
The SM58 is a cardioid microphone. It receives sound in a fan from the front with very little sound from the rear. That's why rock bands like it. That and it's almost impossible to break. It's not perfect. Sounds from the rear still make it through, just not nearly as loud as you. Also, you shouldn'...

Re: Disastrous White Noise Conundrum (Round 232319)
there is still a hum in the recordings Can you hear it if you plug your headphones into the mixer and turn the volume up? The SM58 is a very sensitive microphone and it can pick up hum from CFL fixtures, electric motors and noises from your computer. One of the problems new people have is they're s...
