Re: Presonus Firestudio Project Multitrack

I don't know that we ever got down to that granularity, but it does come up regularly.

Re: Using Audacity As A Benchmark

Audacity performance tends to flatten out once the minimum required system speeds are met. It's always memory and drive problems. I don't think Audacity has been CPU bound in years. A favorite of ours is Gaussian Blur in Photoshop. That always takes time because it puts a serious strain on the syste...

Re: Behringer UCA202 High Pitched Noise

The Mackie should provide 48V Phantom only to the 3-pin XLR microphone connectors.

Is the Monitor switch on the UCA202 set to Off?

Do you get the interference when you plug the headphones into the Mackie?

Re: Ca I convert wav files to 2000 Hz type?

While you have the show on the timeline, change the sample rate with the lower left-hand window.

You will probably not get anything useful if you do that. Human speech needs to go up higher than that to be understood.

Re: Dialogue Editing using region labels

Every time you Import a sound file, it will appear in Audacity on its own track, one above the other. On any track, you can use the time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows) to shove the blue waves sooner or later. Audacity defaults to playing everything, so the first track (of multiple) that has audi...

Re: recoring with micro during playing

You can use the Audacity Overdubbing feature to listen to one track while you're recording an independent second track. Normally you would use this to build a band one instrument at a time, but I bet this is right down your alley. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_o...

Re: Spinning wheel appears w/editing

Another note. Do what Gale suggested with the preference files. Audacity doesn't reinstall by reinstalling. It "reinstalls" by resetting its preference files to First Birthday. I would request you comment at each step that you complete so we can keep up. We have to build and maintain your ...

Re: Spinning wheel appears w/editing

Thank you.
What was the result of the verify test?
Have you ever run the Activity Monitor while you're trying to edit? It might be useful to know what's overloading; disk activity, CPU activity, etc.
