Re: LP conversion sound quality, can you recommend improveme

Don't convert one of the songs to AAC, import the high quality WAV to your iPod and listen to it. Does the WAV sound good on your laptop? Are you using iTunes Plus for conversion or regular iTunes. Regular AAC is designed for the maximum number of songs at OK sound. Plus is much better sound with fe...

Re: Amplify

If your show is 10dB low, you can continually boost by 2dB until you can't any more -- the show is as loud as it can get without damage. If you click Allow Clipping, you can keep boosting it "forever." What are you trying to do that the tool will not do? Normalize is a cousin to Amplify an...

Re: Amplify

Each time you make a new selection in your show, Amplify changes to reflect the amount of boost needed to achieve the target -- the two window values. If you change one of the values, the show will change and the values will change. It's a dynamic tool.

Re: control audacity simultaneously on 2 or more computers

Controlling multiple independent machines without special provisions is always going to lead to timing issues. No two machine's internal clocks or sound card clocks run at the same rate and they will all drift off from one other. If they're all in the same room, then it's far preferable to do a mult...

Re: Removing background music

There are money-based programs that claim to be able to do vocal isolation, but as a rule, no. If the show is mixed sound on a mono track, then nobody can do it. -- Voice Removal or Isolation --Voice Trap (Vocal Isolation) http://www.cloneensemble.com/vt_main.htm --Extra Boy http://www.kvraudio.com/...

Re: Obtain crackly/radio type effect

It's the crackly noise where I got stuck. I loaded a 10 second segment of brown noise. What I want is just the peaks of the noise to force themselves through like in an airliner radio several miles out. There doesn't seem to be any setting of Noise Gate that will do that, but it should. I should be ...

Re: Narration effect

Some of that sounds like natural acting voice and some of them maybe a pitch shift downward to make it sound unnatural, and then echo and reverb layer poured over everything. If you're a natural tenor I don't know that there's anything we can do. I wonder if you could do anything with the vocoder ef...
