Re: Help with Mackie ProFX12
Does it appear in Windows Device Manager? If it's not there, Audacity will never find it.

Re: Getting Started
Do you have a specific goal? The question would lead us to think you want to be a forum elf and know all about Audacity. You can do that, but maybe not in a forum post. Most people want to record their guitar or transfer cassettes to CD. We talk them through that and then, once they get familiar, th...

Also, Noise Removal in particular depends on you being able to find a segment of noise by...

Re: searching for an answer
I know you're thinking to yourself: "Self (you're thinking) how bad could a couple of conversions be?" It's three, not two and you can have overload, clipping, noise floor, distortion, and gain change problems at each conversion. In other words, you gather all the bad features of each form...

Re: searching for an answer
Thanks for the complete information. Self Recording is a delicate balance between Software, Drivers, Hardware and Operating System. Self Recording is also not a guaranteed service, so nobody pays a lot of attention to it. You may have hit a combination that just doesn't work. Audacity will record an...

Re: Pops at edit points
So each edit is an exercise in splitting the track into two monos and then recombining into stereo? Video editors have no control over the edit point. They have to edit on television frame boundaries. They get around this by doing a very rapid dissolve at the cut point. Most people don't notice that...
