Re: Preserving quality with amplify effect
320kbps mp3's and WAV files 320 bitrate is approaching the point where nobody can hear the difference except possibly very young girls. Bitrate quality ratings get very slippery past about 256 or so. It's not a linear change as the rate goes up. The difference between 32 and 64 on a stereo show is ...

Re: Sending audio files in email
AUP is not a sound file format. It's a text file. It's the list of instructions what to do with all the stuff inside the _data folder. That's also why it's so tiny. You need to send both and they both have to be in the same directory to open. Please note that Audacity Projects are not backward compa...

Re: Adding DC Offset to Audio File
Download it. Copy or drag it to the Audacity plugins folder. Restart Audacity. As above, sound systems don't like DC very much, those that will even acknowledge that it exists. If you stand by the railroad tracks as a large train is coming and they blow their horn, you can feel your shirt moving bac...

Re: Alternative way of "sliding time scale / pitch shift..."
Playback software will not play a song with variable sampling. The software will see music like that as a damaged file.

Re: No sound after recording
If you record with "Playthrough" selected, then both red and green sound meters will work. You will get a recording whether or not Playthrough is selected. That just lets you hear what's going on if you have speakers selected. Use the little speaker pulldown to see where Audacity is trying...

<<<File has been deleted and became inaccessible for download. >>> The blue waves on the timeline do not show you everything. Stretch out the sound meters by dragging the right-hand edge so you can see them clearly. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Change the timeline display us...

Re: How to make a part of audio stress and imply the emotion
I suppose you could try Effect > Pitch Change, Effect > Amplify, and Effect > Compressor, but we don't hold a lot of hope. The human ear is tuned to very delicate variations of the human voice and our record is: You can't turn a plain voice into an announcer, you can't turn a man into a woman and yo...
