Re: ASIO latency FUBAR

The three examples I used for the overdubbing tutorial all had local hardware monitoring and didn't depend on the computer.

Works a treat. No latency.

Re: Error: failed to disconnect from DDE server gracefully...

The notes say Microsoft hasn't actively used DDE since Windows 95, but modern Windows machines try to maintain backwards compatibility. Has this machine ever had Win95? Do you use applications that date back to then? DDE has been deprecated since it's easy for evil software to break into it and caus...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test

nothing teaches you more about voice acting than listening to yourself!
I can do better. There's nothing like getting to the end of the book and realizing how dreadful you were at the beginning. Fortunately, that usually only happens once.

Good luck.

Re: Unable to fill in value in Noise Reduction

Noise Reduction is a two step process. Drag-select a portion of background sound ("Room Tone"). Effect > Noise Reduction > Profile. Then select the whole clip or performance. Effect > Noise Reduction and put in the three values you desire. You can start with the default numbers and see how...

Re: Time shift tool

Control and Shift keys work just like they do selecting anything else on your machine. Control selects one at a time and Shift selects everything between two selections.

Re: Problem opening project file.

As above, that's a project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The AUP file isn't music. It's a list of instructions how Audacity should put your show together from all that stuff in the _DATA folder. They have to be in the same location or folder. They won't go look...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test

I have an odd book project because it's a language learning text book how it pertains to batch processing for a lot of sound files. I'm doing the overall view from 10,000 feet. If your goal is publish with ACX, you may have stepped outside their guidelines. Is there a story? Am I likely to load thi...

Re: need to reduce hissing

And there's a bookkeeping note. If you're wildly successful, you'll need to remember to specially prepare your voice for that client until the sun cools off. That also means you can't trade up to a different studio without dragging the DeEsser anchor behind you. If this is paid work you become a bus...

Re: RMS & Peaks

If you were on Windows, there's quite a list of places to check for automatic sound processing, but not so much on a Mac. PuzzledPuppy.png What else do you do or what other services do you use? Mac people are famous for leaving things running in the background instead of actually closing them (I, of...

Just reading over that again. We were able to pick up quite a few more restrictions and roadblocks as we progress. Do you fall into one of these categories (scroll down to the bottom)? https://www.acx.com/help/200878270 Can I buy it on Amazon? Expand the last entry, bottom right. https://audible-acx...
