Re: Multitrack on a Budget, TASCAM US-1800:
I understand you can get quite a number of multi-track devices to work after ASIO is added. Windows Sound Drivers are not the most talented. Koz
Re: Edit
Neither Audacity Projects nor exported stand-alone music files save UNDO. We recommend you export or save several times as you edit. If the computer crashes or you need to go back to an earlier version of your song, you can do that.

Re: Playback sound quality lousy, Part 2
Wait. You killed right and left works OK, and killed left and distorted right comes out of both?
Does it pass this test clip? Just download, open it and play it. It's short. 39 seconds.

Re: Overlaying two tracks - sort of!!
which I can do without any problem. Pamela Business or Pamela Professional? Pamela gave you a stereo show with the users split, right? it should be possible to "fade" each track to the other side a little with the panning controls. Split the track into two with the left-hand drop-down men...

Re: Playing Back Recordings - A Bit of a Puzzle
You have a gift. All the information is there and I read it four times, but I can't picture the setup in my head. The FastTrack is feeding both the amp and your speakers? How are they connected? 1) I can record (my bass let's say) in stereo (comes out on one channel), but can't record in mono. The b...

Re: Help Recording Vinyl with Audacity
You shouldn't be plugging into the Headphone Jack of your laptop. You should be plugging into the Stereo Line-In (blue) if you have one or an external USB stereo sound device. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg Windows laptops tend not to have Stereo Line-In and you can't ...

Re: delay while recording
You need a device which will mix the Audacity backing track playback with your live voice. The three hardware Overdubbing solutions we reviewed all do that. Note that in all cases, the headphones are connected to the device, not the computer. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/File:PeaveyUCA202Lenovo...

Re: Unplugged/re-plugged my mic, now it won't record
Stereo Mix is baffling. Stereo Mix routes everything on the computer into your recording channel. That's the setting you use to record YouTube sound. So you basically told the computer to try to record your whole world. The fact that it worked for a second is valuable. Make very sure the pink plug i...

-- AUP is not a sound file. It's an Audacity Project Manager file. It's text. You should File > Export from Audacity to get a stand-alone sound file you can upload and share. Scroll down to Projects. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 -- To your question. No. The best you c...

Re: midi controller
Audacity doesn't speak MIDI, but you can use Audacity to record the music from a MIDI device. MIDI isn't music, MIDI is machine control. A MIDI instruction says which key to press, how hard and how long. Whether or not it makes sound is irrelevant. It's probably not possible to run a MIDI software p...
