Re: What kind of mic should i buy?
People at work have NT1A microphones and they're very happy with them. I use an AKG 414XL. The vocal version. That's it recording a guitar (not the best use, but it works). http://www.kozco.com/tech/MicTests/studioLayout.jpg That's a Peavey PV6 sound mixer (with 48v phantom turned on) and a Mac Ster...
Re: Clueless
OK. Deep breath. Relax the shoulders. Audacity does not save sound files. Never has. To get a normal, stand-alone sound file like WAV or MP3, you have to File > Export one. You have parts of an Audacity Project. You can push those around, too if you know what you're doing. If you File > Save > MyMus...

You don't need anything fancy. The Master Out RCAs will plug right into one of these... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg UCA202 USD $30. That's my mixer and Windows machine. This is assuming your computer is going to do nothing but record your turntable music sets. That'...

Re: Realtek HD digital audio out
More like the sound card isn't decoding the Dolby Digital AC3 any more and the separate sound channels don't exist, digital or analog. I think you engineered yourself out of Live Capture, but others may know better.

Re: What kind of mic should i buy?
What is it? We can't cross that to personal experience or known problems. It's always a danger sign when they say "uni-directional." That usually means they're not going to tell you what the actual sound pattern is, just "trust us on this." That's a beginner microphone. USB micro...

Re: Nothing plays when exported to iTunes
Does anything else play in iTunes? It's not unusual for Windows machines to scramble sound pathways when you're doing complex editing. Go into Windows Control Panels and make sure Windows is trying to play music out to the speakers or headphones.

Re: Bad sound quality after recording with Audacity
The phrase that pays is: "I want to record my voice and..." Unless you're planning on mixing a show outside the computer, that's the kiss of death. This is the same problem that the Skype people have. No, you can't easily record both sides of a Skype call. Two different sound programs runn...

Re: Bad sound quality after recording with Audacity
I reposted this topic because nobody answered to my previous one: That's because we don't know. And we still don't know. The minute you go into a multi-software computer, all bets are off. Audacity is a very simple sound program and likes running on very simple computers. I would bet that Windows s...

Re: live recording with over-driven bass
If it's any consolation to you, this is precisely the problem that people have when they try to record a rock concert on their camcorder during a live performance. Same microphone type and same problem. "The bass notes are really loud and crunchy and I can't hear the lead singer." I can't ...

Re: live recording with over-driven bass
No. We believe you. Sitting the Zoom on the floor is actually a valid technique to mic a theatrical performance. You need to know that part of the advantage of this technique is it doubles the sensitivity of the microphone(s). In your case, it drives the capsules in the head into mechanical overload...
