Re: How do I reduce bass?
I get a gargling, rumbly, thumpy sound, not a voice. If you recorded the voice too hot or high a volume, it will overload or clip and the harsh, buzzy damage is permanent. Do you have View > Show Clipping selected and do you get red streaks in the blue waves? Recording voices is a lot harder than ev...

Re: Reverb on recording
I'll take the last one first. The Line-In isn't really Line-In. Mic-In connections work by installing a very sensitive, special purpose amplifier in the system just as your connection enters the computer. The volume boost is very high and you cannot control it. Once you overload this amplifier, it's...

No, there's no filter that can take out everything that's not Brahms.

Re: How to remove the string squeak noise?
I would have put money on your trying to get rid of finger placement problems on a guitar. I'm going with no. I can think of ways to isolate it and maybe mute it, but that would put a silent hole in the performance. If you wanted to be completely obsessive, you could copy that note from somewhere el...

Re: Using Two Mics on Same PC
You can record from two USB mics if the recording software supports recording from more than one recording device at a time. Audacity does not support that. Macs can record from two USB microphones at once by creating one Aggregate Device in software before Audacity ever sees it. Our Phrase that Pa...

Re: Reducing or removing background sound from an audio file
Once it's mixed, you can't split up a show into performers like speakers, singers, instruments or background sounds. They may be obvious to you, but simple software like Audacity doesn't "know" what words are.

If you have Built-In Microphone, Built-In Output (Speakers) and Audacity > Preferences > Recording > Playthrough all selected at once, that's a feedback path when you either press Record or enter Monitor Mode.

Re: One-click Noise Removal
How were you philosophically going to get around voices? In the presence of white noise, a voice is either gargly/honky/martian, or hissy under the best circumstances, and voices are a very popular noise removal task. The next most popular task is wide-band music. Are you developing a cousin to conf...
