Re: Audacity suddenly loses volume
What are those sharp spikes on the bottom track? What do they sound like? You don't fall into any of the regular Windows problems. Does it sound like you're suddenly recording way off-mike? If I had to guess at it, I'd say your USB microphone became unplugged and the system defaulted to the built-in...

Re: Snowball USB mic not recognized
If it's a straight recognition problem, you should be able to restart Audacity with the mic plugged in and it should be there. If the Mac can't see it, that's the end of the story. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Is the mic listed there? Can you select it and watc...

Re: 'static'-like noise generated in audacity
It's more entertaining when somebody is doing everything right and it still doesn't work. Does it do that if you make a recording with everything powered, but don't put a record on? If you do that, post a bit of that new track here on the forum. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t...

Re: Removal of Noise
You may not need to post anything, but a shortened version of the WAV file as sound might be valuable. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 Audacity can't do forensics. If you have a voice file that's barely intelligible, or not useful at all, no Audacity tools are going to h...

I went looking for that and couldn't find it. Does this have links from any of the other documents?

Re: crackling in random recordings
Are you plugged into the computer via a USB hub? That's a bad idea. USB sound doesn't like sharing a bitstream. If the instance of cracking goes up when you're trying to overdub, then the computer may not be up to holding precise recording, mixing, and playback all at once. When it drops bits that c...

Re: My Mac laptop says no to Audacity 2.2
apps are not from "an identified developer" Doesn't that just mean it's going to complain about anything that didn't come from the Apple Store? That was the traditional iPhone protection. Only stuff from the Apple Store and the iPhone will not run two or more applications at once. That ca...

Re: Converting WAV to MP3
Through all that, MP3 always creates sound damage, so they're great for listening or uploading to the internet, but maybe not archive. Archives should always be in the highest possible quality like WAV or FLAC, not the highest possible compression ratio. WAV files have a bitrate, too. It's something...

Re: Project looping
You may need to Tracks > Mix and Render so Audacity considers the whole show rather than pieces. Sometimes Audacity considers blank areas created with Time Shift strangely.

Re: Absolute silence
Self Recording is not a guaranteed service so success can vary with the soundcard, computer and version of Windows. Some computers don't do this at all and you will need purpose-built software. Koz
