Re: how to automate mono->stereo conversion?

Well, Quicktime only plays it into one side of the headphone Then by extension, you don't have mono sound files and that changes what we tell you. you probably have stereo sound files with sound only on one side. Open one of the files in Audacity. Do you get a normal stereo presentation with blue w...

Re: Recording - No Devices Found

Self Recording is not a guaranteed service. Earlier Windows just presented all the services and devices and let you straighten them out. Self Recording was one of the services/devices. The more modern Windows simplified the system and some computers have no self-recording at all and need extra softw...

Re: Recover .au files (no .aup file)

What were the Audacity versions?
Did the filenames have any magic characters? Any $ or # or extra dots or slashmarks? Characters acceptable in one OS may be poison to others.

Re: Configuring My laptop

Can you plug headphones into your computer and listen to anything? YouTube, Windows Media Music, keyboard sounds, anything? It's possible but highly unlikely that your computer doesn't have a soundcard. That can happen in a home-built computer with a custom motherboard.

Re: need a suggestion for track editing

Can you give us an idea of what you're trying to correct? Sour notes? Misplaced embouchure? Sometimes describing the task can make the response clearer. There's nothing like an overly fuzzy answer because we can't tell what you're doing.

Re: need a suggestion for track editing

Our first plain English, knee-jerk reaction to the question is not do production in MP3. The way Audacity handles MP3 imports results in damage if you try to make another MP3 from your finished show. MP3 damage is cumulative.

I'm not the heaving editing elf, so we need to wait for others. Koz

Re: how to automate mono->stereo conversion?

If you have "real" mono sound files, they will play the same to both ears in most if not all players. The other elves are experts in Chains, the Audacity batch tool -- if you still want it. Koz

Re: DAT to PC windows 8 laptop

The player has both AES/EBU Audio Engineering Society/European Broadcast Union and S/PDIF Sony Philips Digital Interface Format digital connections. The problem is the other end. If the computer doesn't support either of those, then you're in the market for an interface device. The unit also has Bro...

Re: Suppress GSM bzzzz background noise

Probably not, but if you want to take a shot at it, Effect > Noise Removal. It works in two steps. Drag-select a portion of buzz by itself. No voices. Run the tool and Get Profile. Select some of the actual show, run the tool again and apply it. Audacity will try to remove whatever you captured in t...

Re: Won't Record LP In Stereo

We also warn that you should connect the turntable, wait and then start Audacity, not the other way around.
