Re: problems saving

Did you really mean Export and not Save? Did you put dates or any other punctuations marks inside the filename? That will confuse the operating system and it may not know where to put your work. It's pretty common to try and slide a date inside a filename -- MySong-12/29/12.wav. That filename is not...

Re: how to automate mono->stereo conversion?

Most of which may not be necessary. Mr. 77 and I did some behind the scenes shuffling of files and it seems more than likely that his job is based on a playback mistake -- that he played a one-sided stereo file instead a real mono file. He says he played a mono file now and it appears in both ears w...

Re: Device Driver Software was not successfully installed

It's not talking about Audacity. It's talking about the software that makes the computer recognize the cassette player. Try unplugging the cassette machine to hear the music playback. Windows sometimes thinks your music device is bidirectional and tries to send the music back out to the machine inst...

Re: Sound delay after hitting a note on guitar

You're listening to the guitar note "one computer late." This is why you can't do overdubbing and sound-on-sound with most computers alone. Your guitar interface has a headphone connection, you should use that -- maybe. You should particularly use that if you plan to make a whole rock band...

Re: How to remove "hiss" and "hum"?

Effect > Noise Removal. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/noise_removal.html It works in two steps: In the first step, you drag-select a portion of the show with noise only, launch the tool and Get Profile. Then select the show, launch the tool again and apply it. Audacity will try to remove what...

Re: Recording Two Different Voices

I think you may be just recording it wrong. You should have four independent sound tracks and it's a simple matter to select one and apply tools or effects. Once you have a single mixed track with two voices and they don't match, you're dead. I would record the first voice and then go back and recor...

Re: how to automate mono->stereo conversion?

http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/batch_processing.html I'm not the batch expert, but I can tell you it's constantly changing. It's a popular idea, but it's hard to program because each service, filter and effect has to be rewritten to accept a batch/chain and debugging is an exponentially expand...

Re: how to automate mono->stereo conversion?

Fascinating. Which Quicktime? They're also not quite standard files. 16000 instead of 44100 or 48000. What's the destination for these files? That will tell us whether you need other corrections. If you're just going to burn them to a Music CD, the burner program should clear all this up for you wit...

Re: Suppress GSM bzzzz background noise

All these things I was going to get to while I was on holiday/vacation....

I never tried out my telephone recording system on a cellphone and I never wrote up the one I got to work on a landline.

One of these days.
