Re: Export to MP3 is slow
The job is not to edit an MP3 file. Audacity is not an MP3 or WAV editor. Audacity works internally at uncompressed 44100 (or whatever your settings are) and 32-bit floating. When you do a special effect, Audacity has to make an UNDO file the same size as the show. So the overall job is three times ...

Re: Delay/flange effect on playback of multiple files
Nowhere is it written that he's using the standard output devices for playback. I want to know more about how this all used to work and this is my favorite DAW.
Of how many?
I wish he would drop back in so we could ask.

Re: Playhead won't move past initial stutter ???
I'm now thinking it's hardware incompatibility between this 7 year-old MobilePre and my month-old Macbook Air. Would you concur? No, or not necessarily. I guess you could have a fight between UBS2 and USB3. Does the Air have real USB connections, or are they shared with something else? The Air took...

Re: flat bottom on waveform
It's also out of balance. The top wave is larger than the bottom wave and is hiding the fact that both waves clip at the same point. The bottom wave only occasionally gets to the clip point, whereas the top wave lives there. Mic input on front, with headphone out. You can't use Mic-In as a generic a...

Re: Won't Record
Stereo Mix isn't right. That's for recording internet audio or other specialized events. Connect the mixer and then restart Audacity. Click the Device Dropdown and see if you can find the mixer or USB Audio Device. That's the one you should be using. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolb...

Re: Delay/flange effect on playback of multiple files
Audacity, which is my favorite DAW for the task. So this used to work and now it doesn't? The effect does not happen when I render the files together but only during playback. If you can't play the work, how do you know? Where did you get the WAV files from and what is the job? You can get into ser...

Re: Recordings are bad, Audacity or SoundMAX problem?
Audacity is a very simple audio program and it likes working on simple computers. No competition. You don't reinstall Audacity by reinstalling Audacity. You do it by preference file management. Scroll down to resetting preferences. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/preferences.html You should pro...

Re: Playhead won't move past initial stutter ???
Unplug the Mobile Pre. Restart Audacity. Can you make a normal recording from Built-In Microphone or Built-In Input? Doesn't have to be any sound there. We're just looking for Audacity to not get stuck. It's possible to get Audacity installed in such a way that it can't find its cache folders. Koz
