Re: vocal remover

http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_vocal_removal_and_isolation.html Vocal remover fails a lot more often than it succeeds. The list of requirements is long. Many downloaded MP3s fail because of compression damage. Mono audio files don't work at all and even if you have a stereo track, if ...

Re: To record my electric guitar on my PC using audacity

Oh, right. Yes a webcam is not going to be able to cleanly record a full volume guitar system. Many other cheaper microphone systems are not going to be able to handle this, either. The grownups all use much more expensive Dynamic/Moving Coil microphones, in-line attenuators, and adjustable sound mi...

Re: Distorted recording of lecture.

Would this make a difference as to whether the distorted files can or cannot be fixed with Audacity or some other program?
Nobody can rescue those recordings. We are trying to locate the source of the distortion so you don't get it again when you transfer the tapes the second time.

Re: Sony MD Walkman MZ-N708 transfer to iMac

Google may be the answer. You can expand QuickTime's range with downloadable codecs and modules. It also seems you can download and install an ATRAC player and converter to your Mac.

Re: Separated Track Bleedover

People who like robust, loud music also have the problem that the headphone sound is leaking either through their head (Eustachian Tubes) or past their ears. Check out the size of the headphones ... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/wynonna2.jpg Normally those two pathways aren't significant, but if yo...

Re: Sony MD Walkman MZ-N708 transfer to iMac

Instead of using the files on the MD machine, you play the works in real time with the MD machine S/PDIF digital connection and on to the Edirol. The Edirol connects to the USB on the computer. That connection should be plain digital audio with no compression tricks. Audacity will record that just f...

Re: Distorted recording of lecture.

They were put in a cassette player and then attached to the computer I wouldn't fly right past that sentence. That's a critical part of the transfer and it's almost certainly where the distortion is coming from. Connecting a cassette machine to the Mic-In (pink or not) of a Windows laptop will not ...
