Normal Recording.
Grab the right-hand edge of the meters and pull sideways to make them larger so you can see them.

Re: Wont record from mixer

The red recording meters in Audacity should look more or less like this and the blue waves should never fill the space top to bottom. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg You can make the meters larger by grabbing the right-hand edge and pull to the right. The meters are a big deal wh...

Re: Effect to correct from voice being to close to mic

There's two effects. The proximity effect like the beer bar band where someone is trying to swallow the microphone and actual distortion from being too loud. We can't do much about either one. Koz

Re: How can I delay my microphone even more (few seconds)?

Curiouser and curiouser Radio Delay is an application, not a driver or device. That makes my head hurt. If it's an application, that means it can't interrupt existing pathways... Even worse, the web page shows them as a sound device and that wasn't my experience at all. As a side issue, my WinXP off...

Re: repeated single note rather than actual recording

Will it let you stop recording and close Audacity after that happens? How is the tape machine connected to the Mac? What's the model number of the tape machine? As a first pass, close Audacity, unplug the USB and replug it several times. Restart the Mac and then restart Audacity. Still have problems...

Re: sound is fading out

Being an early adopter has its problems. I don't know that we have any information on Win8. Google time. Even MacOS put that conferencing service into its later versions -- but only on the built-in microphone. On older systems it's a separate service. It may not be on the newer machines. Remember, y...

Re: How do I extract a song from a youtube video?

Yes, you can use the Capture Sound Playing on the computer.

Not all computers can do this, so you may need to add software -- and the whole process happens in real time. It's not like downloading a file.

Re: How can I delay my microphone even more (few seconds)?

I'm more than ever convinced that PC Soundcard routing is 3D, not 2D like everyone thinks. Nobody creates a mental picture of the signal routing, they just memorize a couple of rules and call it good. "If I press that button, this happens." The problem with that is SoundFlower or RadioDela...

Re: Separating tracks on the fly

I think so. You can add a label (Tracks > Add Label...) and I think even type a note in there. You're shortcut keys will be different from mine.

Re: Quality loss exporting .wav and reloading into audacity?

Just before we drift from this too much, the reason a tiny dither signal is added is to keep the bit conversion distortion from going up. When you process from higher bit density to a lower one, the musical accuracy goes down. You could have musical tones that just don't convert well -- or convert w...
