Re: How to get the dirty old sound?
Anything we do is going to depend on you having all the instruments on their own tracks. If you apply dirt to the drum tracks it may destroy the vocals if this is a mixed show on one track.
Try applying Effect > Leveler to the drums. Try it at maximum and see if you're any closer.

Re: Exported file won't play
Won't bad sound routing affect the show right away - not wait until later?I can then play back the track and it sounds OK.

Re: How to make stereo sound to 5.1?
So that's 4.1 show in 5.1 speakers. The out-of phase front two are mixed down to the rear channels. There are two speakers back there, but they both have the same show. The center mix is the one that kills you because that's generally dialog in a movie. There is no good way to split dialog from a mi...

Re: Line in/ mic in
If you don't have a stereo line-In (and many Windows laptops don't), then you can use a Behringer UCA-202 or equivalent to provide it.

Re: What settings to use for an internet podcast?
Another note. 32 is widely regarded as the lowest you can go for a performance that most people will accept. Below that and the show turns into bubbly, gargling, honky, grade-school trash. With the increase in quality of internet connections, those sorts of shows are declining in popularity because ...

Re: What settings to use for an internet podcast?
Nobody understands compression. Compressors like MP3 strive to preserve the quality as much as possible of the original performance. If you pre-damage the original performance, then MP3 will try to carefully preserve the damage. It's always best to start with the highest possible quality performance...

Re: normalize and amplify
1. They are purely arithmetic functions because they have no idea what sound is and pay no attention whatever to content. They use the highest peak in the performance as a guide for overall gain setting. "If the peak is XdB, then do that." It's stunningly simple math. Neither Normalize nor...

One of the iTunes burn options is to burn an Audio CD. You didn't check that box (most likely problem). Koz

Re: Adding a kazoo effect
Yes, we shouldn't wander too far away from the goal: an intelligibility notch filter. Rhythm, overall pitch, interpretation, swing, interstitial and emotion and a complete inability to tell what I said. Also see: The grownups talking in any Charlie Brown animation, carried, unless I miss my guess, b...
