Re: MacBook Pro says "security settings won't allow..
Every time I give Apple the benefit of the doubt they never fail to disappoint. Said the recent Windows convert. I believe that's a Mountain Lion system setting. There's a way to work around the security settings, and any second I'll find it...... ...Here it is. Apple (upper left) > System Preferen...

Re: [Noise removal] Settings to use for "natural-sounding" s
I would suggest you're never going to get to a Sound Stage quality performance, and we don't do forensics. We can't pull a performance out of trash. As in the instructions, the tools works in two steps. Define the noise by itself and then apply the tool based on that definition. The way the latest v...

Re: Exporting a selection
File > Export Selection only works when you have something selected at the time you try to export. Drag-select a small portion of the show just anywhere. Leave it selected. File > Export Selection. Give it a name and see if that works. One way to make sure you have what you want is to place labels a...
Re: recording
What are you recording? Fine detail is good. "I'm recording a guitar with my Samson USB microphone."

Re: record from crosley turntable
Please note that this process can be pretty labor and time intensive and those sparkly, clear iTunes downloads of exactly the same works are going to get very tempting.
This totally works if you have out-of-print material or personal sound that was never published.

Re: record from crosley turntable
MacBook Pro? Plug the turntable in and let the Mac chew on it for a second. Launch Audacity and ... Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording. Poke that and you should see a "USB Something Something." It might even say the name of the turntable, but maybe not. "USB Audio Device&quo...

Re: Frequency analysis shows results that are way off
The mess of overtones and frequencies kills people trying to filter out words or instruments by "looking for the note and deleting that frequency." Those extra spikes are the reason you don't sound like Harry Connick Jr and neither do I even though we're singing the same notes. Robert may ...

Re: [2.0.2] How does Amplify work?
Maybe check [X] Allow Clipping. Effect > Amplify works as long as no part of the show blue waves go over 1 -- all the way up or down. If you zoom out all the way, was there a click, a pop, or other sudden noise that produced a high wave? If you carefully select and delete that really tall wav Amplif...

Re: Sudden Very Loud Hiss, you can't hear the music!!
File format conversion can add noise, but usually so low that only dogs can hear it. It doesn't take over the music.
Does the hiss stop if you start playing the same music over again? Does it always happen in the same place in the song?
How are you listening to the music? Headphones?

If it doesn't work, we did find a Skype recorder for the Mac. It's eCamm
