You can get a good idea now by magnifying the timeline up and down and look for a majority of the sound to settle at zero. Natural sound had no DC.

And for the last one, you could change Audacity preferences to 44100, 16-bit Stereo. Everything speaks that standard.

Re: Attempting to Record LFN.. Help!

The effect should be magnified several-fold with that trick. As usual, two recordings, one with and one without. I'm going with a ...

Re: can't import mpg4 audio

You should go to extraordinary measures to find out why those files vanished. If you don't, chances are good that if you do...

Re: USB microphone no longer recognized by Audacity
The reason restarting Audacity normally works is Audacity only checks for USB microphones at startup. You can also Transport > Rescan Audio Devices to cause Audacity to go out and look any time. If neither of those works, then the connection to the computer may have failed. Can you try another USB p...

Re: Attempting to Record LFN.. Help!
There's nothing wrong with the microphone. It is specification flat to 15Hz which means it's still cranking much lower than that. Given what it is, it was intentionally designed to have no natural lower limits and it's omnidirectional, further contributing to its stability and quality. It's certainl...

pictures No thatch. I'm crushed. No dog, either. How many fireplaces do you have? Can you block the openings or close the dampers during the noise events? This from the observation that opening the windows and doors changes the effect. That's why I said it reminded me so much of my electrical noise...
