Re: Recording starts normal then fades and later returns
OK. Troubleshooting 101. Break it. Set up a recording on a quiet day with nobody else around. Start with just background sound -- birds chirping, and start talking as you approach the microphone ending very close to the mic talking loudly. Does it do expected things? Do you get odd level shifts? Doe...

Re: Recording starts normal then fades and later returns
I got a little whiplash there. the audio level dips (like someone was pulling a fader down) to a very small, but audible waveform which may come back up partially and then lower back down and eventually the audio level and displayed waveform will come back to normal level. We don't normally do this,...

Re: monitoring audio while recording
Can I assume you're not recording a live microphone or turntable? If you're doing self-recording (YouTube sound) you could get into trouble with sound routing since that could connect Audacity's input to its output if you did it wrong. The output dropdown (speaker icon) should point to the speaker o...

Audacity > Preferences > Directories should tell you where Audacity put its temporary files. Such as: /tmp/audacity1.2-koz
I think the next time you launch Audacity (on your cleaned machine) it should offer to recover the work for you.

Re: Windows 7 audacity recording
Audacity doesn't make tape decks, so you probably got Audacity with a deck made by somebody else. You can get feedback if you're trying to record your laptop microphone instead of the deck. What did the instructions say to do to connect the desk to your computer and what kind of computer is it?

Re: Frame rate problem
It worked perfectly as far as the video is concerned Probably not. The program probably just played back each frame longer to force it to come out 24. The show got longer. If you don't do that, you're forced into splitting frames, motion blur, and other picture damage. You should try just changing ...
