Re: High pass / low pass / band pass / band cut filter
You appear to have left out the All Cut filter, although I suppose you could get there with appropriate values of High Pass and Low Pass. Does Band Cut go to infinite bandwidth? Koz

Re: USB mics don't work right for me
my old mic is running it's course, try 7 years old. http://www.kozco.com/tech/LRMonoPhase4.wav The mic I used for that is a little over 53 years old. These USB mics are dirt simple and they all work on multiple computers with no more effort than to say "yes" when the computer asks you if ...

Re: MP3 versus .mp3
And should you want an actual MP3 sound file, use File > Export. That also presupposes you installed the "lame" software. Audacity will not Export MP3 by itself.

Re: How Do I Change Keys on My Music Files
Stop doing that conversion thing. That's not helping. I have purchased some background music for a performance How did it arrive? As separate files? Try opening in Audacity directly. Install the FFMpeg software if you need to. http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-...

Re: Removing thumps and bumps
Yahoo Mail supports up to 25MB. If you make it mono, it might fit. Let us know. I can post it on kozco.com in the original quality so everybody can have a crack at it.

Re: Windows 64 bit
1. When I record directly from, say, a track already on my computer, the recorded version is much more trebly than the original. This is quite noticeable on the first recording and if I record the recording of a recording etc., the result becomes unusable. Since a "pure" digital recording...

Re: preferences
We came in in the middle of the movie. Do you have a USB microphone or other device?
Plug it in, let Windows chew on it for a bit and then start Audacity.

Re: recording with a cloned drive
(regular occurrence with this model) Maybe this particular model. How do you know this? At the risk of jinxing myself, my Mini has been running well for years as have the pile of Minis of all ages we have at work. I know people running Minis as servers, etc. How many times as yours bit the dust? Do...

Re: distortion on Audacity>MP3
Don't fall in love with the MP3 bitrate numbers. Audacity default is Stereo 128 is "good" -- assuming you started out with a perfect sound file. If you walked into the game with a 128 MP3, then the new MP3 quality is a good deal less than that. Never do production in MP3.

Re: How Do I Change Keys on My Music Files
Open the music (import) to Audacity and then Effect > Change Pitch. I wouldn't give up the search for the right music, though. The "change" tools usually only work well over a very limited range usually two or three piano notes. The Change tools change everything, not just the notes. You k...
