Never send an audio bitstream through a USB hub. They cause sound damage. Audio equipment needs a USB home run.

You can use a wall-powered USB hub to help a USB audio device if it has problems, but you can't plug anything else in the hub if you do that.

You missed an important item. Recording what? It's not unusual for on-line services to act funny if the internet connection isn't up to real time transmission. I bet if you tried to record a local microphone or other sound source, this problem doesn't happen. Koz

I don't think either one requires ASIO to work. They're both simple digital converters. I don't think there's any question the Art is the better of the devices. Just having a volume control is a big plus.
