Re: Remove tracks effects ALL not just selected trk!!
Audacity will work on any track selected, so you have to pay attention to the highlighting colors. Click just above MUTE to select that single track and then the delete key should delete just that one track. Koz

Re: tips for a newbie recording a live band via USB mic
A better way to get to mono is Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. It will mix down for you. Koz

Re: tips for a newbie recording a live band via USB mic
Since the show is mono, you can Split Stereo Track from the drop-down to the left of the timeline and only send one channel. That will save half the download time and transmission data. And we won't care. I have to split my musical tastes from the mix because this isn't my thing, but past the obviou...

Re: Tracks play back problem
It's a very bad idea to post active email addresses on the forum. We are a target of spammers and harvesters. You should go into Audacity Preferences > Recording and turn off -- deselect -- Playthrough. Chances are good that's what's causing the multiple regenerated tracks. Also, you should be recor...

Re: all my sound crashes when I export a wav file
Ah. I understand.
Did you unplug the turntable as a test?
This symptom doesn't trigger any ideas. How much drive space do you have?
Start > My Computer > right-click C: > Properties.
While you're in there, do an error check.
Do you have more than one hard drive?

Re: Electric noise on audio recording
I know that I can use Audacity noise removal feature... You should stop knowing that. Audacity Noise Removal is very difficult to use and frequently damages the show it's trying to help. You really need to solve this problem before Audacity gets to it. Once you burn buzz into the show, it's like a ...

Re: tips for a newbie recording a live band via USB mic
Starting with 4. Export the work as WAV at the default settings. That's your Session Master. Then, if you want to export a lesser quality work for your iPod or internet posting, then export MP3. Never do production in MP3. MP3 creates sound damage every time you use it and you can't stop it. The MP3...

Re: Weird random distortion
Past machine or connection problems, the most troublesome sound distortions are caused by Windows Enhanced Services. Did you turn them off? These are the tools to make your Skype conversation better, but they can destroy entertainment recording. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_tro...

Re: Remove this 'crackle' from song?
I think no. It sounds like the right channel is overloading and clipping on loud peaks. Why it would do that is beyond me because the blue waves show no obvious damage -- or have no damage that doesn't also appear on the left. Spectrum analysis is convinced that the left channel is more damaged than...

Re: Applying Amplify effect results in no audio
Effect > Amplify (and Effect > Normalize) have no idea what sound is. They're strictly math tools. Given there's nothing broken, the tool changes the size of the blue waves so the highest peak lands on your target value, -1 in this case. So somewhere in your timeline, there is a serious loud click o...
