Re: Howling sound

Do you use SoundFlower to record Internet Audio? Do you use Skype? I'm betting you're recording from your built-in microphone and not the turntable system. If you also have your speakers on so you can hear what the record is doing, that's the feedback path. Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recordi...

Re: Removing The Melody

You can't take apart a mixed song into instruments and singers. The only tool that comes close is Vocal Removal which sometimes removes the lead singer from a stereo show. Re: Files are using way to much disc space

Also can I put the compressed files on a flash drive to add to another computer with iTunes? Sure. MP3 files will move and play anywhere. Drag and drop. WAV files will, too. You do have to be careful not to Save an Audacity Project. Audacity will not Save a sound file. It saves Projects and those w...

You can compress your shows down to almost nothing, but they will all sound like a bad cellphone call. File > Export > Format:MP3 > Options > Quality...

Are you using the microphone inside the laptop or one outside? What kind of microphone is it?

Re: hum

You bumped your microphone, cable or recorder and somewhere the protective shield has gone. Even very high-end microphones have a cable with a tightly braided metal mesh just under the rubber coating to protect the tiny, delicate sound signals inside. Yours isn't connected any more -- no longer doin...
