Re: Live Music Editing Tips?
Past the bookkeeping, you are editing on a killer sound system, right? You should not be making quality judgements (equalization, compression, noise reduction, etc) on speakers you can hold in one hand, or worse put in your pocket. The speakers in your laptop are good for continuity on the shoot and...

Re: Tracks won't play.
Yes. Now we're going to need the long-form information. Windows version? Which computer and by whom? Laptop? Model Numbers? What are you trying to record? Has this ever worked? Have you used earlier versions of Audacity?

Re: Tracks won't play.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Playback Make sure that's pointed to the right place. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Quality > Sampling Try setting that to 44100, 16-bit. OK Restart Audacity. Did it always do this? Is this a new install? Did you just recently try to capture music from a USB turntab...

Re: save/reopen error
Projects are two things: the AUP file which is the Project Manager, and the _DATA folder which actually has all the show stuff in pieces. Can you find both? What did you call the show? Did you put any evil characters in the name like punctuation marks or foreign characters? I generally avoid surpris...

Re: You Tube audio capture
Some computers will capture anything playing and send it to Audacity. Some won't. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer.html If your computer doesn't have the services or tools listed in the tutorial, then you may have one of the magic computers withou...

Re: Noise removal problem
You were supposed to say, "I tried noise removal and it didn't work very well." It's pretty unusual for Noise Removal to remove hiss. that's very difficult. After you created the quiet show, you exported it as MP3 using a different filename, right? Or did you try to Export under the old na...

Re: playing imported file from CD
You don't import songs from a Music CD. They're in a special format. You Rip a CD into sound files using Ripping software, or, in the case of Macs, play the disk in iTunes and use the iTunes importing features. For the least damage change the iTunes importing options to WAV which plays everywhere, o...

Re: How do I uncompress a compressed saved aup file?
Or do you mean you saved an AUP sound file which got really small? AUP files are the manager files for an Audacity Project. They're not sound files. Do you have the _DATA folder that goes with it?

Re: Low Record Volume from external Mic
So, you are sure you re recording the headset mic and not the mic built-into your laptop, right? No, I got a better one. If the mic seems to be very sensitive but doesn't pick up your voice, slide the little fuzzy doobie off the mic and make sure the microphone is pointed to your mouth. Many headse...
