Does capturing to your internal drive work? Recording with none of your external drives connected and the network disabled?

Audacity > Preferences > Directories. Where does that point to?

A word on Solid State Drives. you can read from them until the sun cools off, but they only have a limited writing ability before the cells get "tired." So they're constantly shuffling cells around inside so you're not constantly beating up one or one group of cells. That's something else ...

Re: Persistant crashing - I've tried everything...

Its a MacBook Air with only 8GB storage That's the system memory, not the drive. A Mac couldn't get out of bed in the morning with an 8GB drive. My oldest, smallest Macbook (2009) still in active service as a sound recorder has a 115GB internal SSD. Desktop > Go > Computer. Screen Shot 2020-08-14 a...

Re: Persistant crashing - I've tried everything...

I make podcasts with recorded interviews from zoom/skype and added audio files How are you capturing both sides of the interview? Typically, you can record your voice or sometimes the Skype voice, but very rarely both on one machine. Are you using Skype/Zoom recording services? That does work, but ...

Re: Sony WH-1000XM3 Bluetooth headphones prevent Audacity from working when connected

There is a new version of Audacity coming out shortly. We'll see how that one goes. Wireless devices and internet connected devices are not a matter of switching from a wire to another wire. Wireless and Internet services all have data errors, connection management, device selection, direction proto...

Re: Noise Reduction Automation Suggestions

I also like the idea to allow the user to automate noise reduction via a macro. If we were to have a stand-alone "Get Noise Profile" effect, then I see no reason why it needs to be limited to only one noise profile. It could support multiple profiles that could be stored on disk for futur...

Re: How can I fix: 'Warning - Missing Audio Data Block Files' error?

Could it be just a naming problem? The AUP file has English-like words in it and has the original showname burned into the programming. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/aupFileGraphic-redbox.jpg The little name in the programming, the name of the AUP file and the name of the _DATA folder must...

Re: Cannot hear my guitar when recording

The advantage of a hardware interface is you can do a latency-free, perfect, bidirectional mix and it almost doesn't matter what the computer is doing.

Many USB sound mixers can do this trick, too.

Re: intro music for site

If this is a post for profit site, my guess is it's working around music copyright issues. Same problem the audiobook people have. Spoken word only with no music. If it works at all, then they recognize the file format, so this is likely to be a theater or legal problem, not technical. Consult their...
