Re: Clipped audio at -4db?

When was the last time you lubricated and serviced the turntable? Do you have it sitting on top of something that makes noises? If you're on Windows, are you recording only from the turntable and not also from the built-in microphone? It goes away when you lift the arm? It's noise coming up through ...

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062469 That adapter will plug into a mono machine and cause the sound to appear on both channels of stereo headphones. I'm sure you can do cheaper. I got the service manual. califone_3110av and califone_3130av are mono machines. The wires inside...

Re: Restoring Muffled Voice?

Ah. I wondered. You don't. Noise Removal only works when you have one single noise and the noise doesn't change over the show. The way you use the tools tells you. Select a portion of the show with noise and no performance. Use that for the "profile." Audacity will then try to subtract tha...

You can do a very respectable job of sound on a mono cassette. Use both left and right and the guard band in the middle for recording sound. The ffffff noise level goes way down and the sparkly fidelity goes up. Koz

This may be normal. What is the model number of your Caliphone player? Apparently, they made millions.

Back in the dark ages, we did news interviews on portable Sony cassette machines. Successful, too. The machines were mono. If you plug a stereo headset in, only the left side would work.

Re: Decay rate or reverberation time

I'll let the actual programmers dip into that, but I want to know where you found a room with one wall? What kills us is multiple reoccurring echoes, so if you're after the sterile, stand-alone, scientific experiment, then you're on the right track. After you successfully handle analyzing real-world...

Re: Restoring Muffled Voice?

The best thing to do is Noise Remove it again and don't damage the voice. The removal was applied too heavily. You should still be able to hear just the slightest bit of the noise remaining between the words. If the show is dead quiet, like this, it means the tools was applied wrong. You can try the...

Re: Hi complete newbie to sound recording

No, I'm not sure. I can only go by the instructions I read and they didn't mention USB at all. Are you sure the USB cable isn't just to power the audiogram3 and isn't used for sound? We have several devices at work that have two USB connections, one for power. The instructions for the Audiogram6 are...
