Re: I want to delve into the audio programming side of things but not sure where to start.
That's not to say we're completely shut out of programming. We're just not C++ candidates. Audacity Projects use programming. AudacityProject2.png That's a segment of a Music Project. It's written in XML, Extensible Markup Language. Audacity makes that thing, but it's really handy to know enough abo...

Re: I want to delve into the audio programming side of things but not sure where to start.
Audacity has a programming language. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php?f=39 People use it to abbreviate and automate audio tasks, such as squooshing the three Audiobook Mastering tasks down to one instruction or Macro. Like a lot of other things, programming appeals to a certain mindset. ...

Re: ACX Check says RMS too quiet, have tried everything!
I thought that the file needed to be better on e.g. the RMS before mastering. The mastering tools will take whatever you have and solve Peak and RMS (loudness). If you announce too quiet, you will fail Noise. If you're too loud, you will fail overload distortion or clipping. Nobody fails overload b...

Re: Persistant crashing - I've tried everything...
There is a video on the ACX instruction web page that recommends without question to capture your work on an external drive (the orange thing). Screen Shot 2020-08-14 at 1.05.35 PM.png I recommend without question to not do that. Computer capture can cause a number of problems and an external drive ...

Re: ACX Check says RMS too quiet, have tried everything!
I applied the Audiobook Mastering Suite exactly as written and the result is a technically compliant sound file that passes and sounds exactly like you. RMS Test in AudacityMastered.mp3 Screen Shot 2020-08-14 at 12.31.53 PM.png I don't hear any obvious sound, voice, or theater errors, so you could s...

Re: Mouse speed very slow in selecting recorded audio and recording is jumpy on the screen - any idea why?
Do I stop the antivirus for the time of recording Not if you're connected to the internet while recording, no. I can project what's happening during recording. The Anti Virus is carefully inspecting every little thing that arrives. Can you compare the settings between the two anti-virus programs. Koz

Re: Mouse speed very slow in selecting recorded audio and recording is jumpy on the screen - any idea why?
Have you done the speed/health tests? When was the last time you defragmented this machine? Never? Is all your recording done from the internet? Does this machine have the same internet speeds that the other one does? Are you connecting via WiFi? How many others are trying to jam into the same servi...

Re: Mouse speed very slow in selecting recorded audio and recording is jumpy on the screen - any idea why?
When Audacity encounters a machine with limited horsepower, it has to decide what is the most important and do that first. Other tasks and processes are left until the machine has time. In Recording, capturing the work is the most important thing, so writing the progress video to the screen is left ...

Re: Locate voice in noisey recording
The 1st step that Koz has given me is to apply a EQ curve as follows: Effect > Filter Curve > Manage > Factory Presets > Telephone Filter And the second step Koz gave you was to customize that step by making the sides of the curve even steeper to peel off even more of the trash. I didn't use the st...
