Re: Recording pc sound resulting in headphones too loud

Self Recording is not a guaranteed product like making the screen light up or connecting to the internet. Some computers can't do it at all. Computers can differ in the "turn-around" point, the place where the playback "turns around" and goes back down the recording pathway. Your...

Re: Audacity changed all my files?

Which version of Windows? Windows doesn't always do such a hot job of assigning logos to file types. All the more of a problem because they make it so hard for you to tell what files really are. Couple that with Audacity's internal file type and it's no wonder you're lost. When you finished with you...

Re: Audacity audio importing problems

Is that a USB microphone and are you going through a USB hub? Hubs can cause problems with Audio.

Oh, and remember this isn't a Help Desk. It's a forum. If you get one to work, post back and say how.

Re: Recording: 1 Mic + PC Sound to different Tracks

Kristal is a good recorder, but has limited editing capacity And limited quality. I posted about this earlier and people poked holes in it almost immediately because it works at a reduced sound quality. Here's one review. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=70599 Maybe they fixed...

Re: Recording: 1 Mic + PC Sound to different Tracks

Yeah, kinda blows my mind, that this cannot be done yet. Oh, it can totally be done, just not with an $800 laptop and a Snowball on the kitchen table. Call-in radio talk shows do this all the time -- in real time. Two people and a mix console, mix-minus headphones, telephone bridge, etc. etc. There...

Re: Recording: 1 Mic + PC Sound to different Tracks

You missed a step. Integrating Skype interviews. Actually, two steps. You have to be able to hear the audio effects, stingers, beds, bumpers and interstitials without interfering with the voices and without feedback. I wonder if by now someone hasn't generated a sound package which will do all that....

Re: Help with DVD volume consitency

The easiest one-step tool is Chris's Compressor. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ This works like the audio processors at the radio station to level everything out. I change the first value, compression from 0.5 to 0.77 and it's a dead ringer for the loc...

Re: Using "Undo"

First we should know that the difference between AIFF and WAV is bookkeeping and environment. They have the same quality of audio, so you could have saved yourself a step right there. Audacity doesn't use either one inside itself. If you intend to go outside the warm/fuzzy Mac environment, you'll wa...
