Re: Stereo Recording (Only One Channel Working)

Touch the plug of your earbuds or headphones to each keyboard output to make sure there's something there. It will not be loud, but a normal line level signal will be audible in headphones. You are pushing yourself closer and closer to a damaged keyboard output the further you test. http://www.kozco...

Re: Recording a Narration

a little bit of intimate sounding reverb.
Reverb takes you further away -- like you're talking down a tunnel. Intimate is no reverb or echo at all and good proximity to the microphone which is hard to do without popping your P sounds.

Re: Recording a Narration

We can't emphasize the room enough. You can't record in your kitchen. We can't take reverb or echo out. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/EchoSample.mp3 That will always sound like a kid doing a recording in the bathroom. She's stuck. People at work have been known to record in a closet with quil...

Re: help getting rid of buzzing on audio

Is this file intended to have the irritating buzz in it or not? AudioFile_bd2.wav I'm at sea. slimwaffle complained about serious buzz and then Gale came back with a solution to the crackling. Then slim responded with a comment about the buzz. Then Gale responded with an 800Hz rolloff sample inexpli...

Re: help getting rid of buzzing on audio

Maybe we're working at cross purposes, I didn't hear any shrill, sharp buzzing in the test clip, either. Just the occasional crackle. Koz

Re: No input jack on new iMAC

You have to make a stereo Line-In and the best, cheapest way to do that is that Behringer unit.

Re: Can't remove vocals!?

Most times vocal removal doesn't work no matter whose software you use. You need a good quality stereo show with the singer in the exact dead center of the stereo field and no stereo special effects. That short list kills a lot of people because music downloads can be mono which doesn't work at all ...

Re: Recording problem

Where exactly is it changing volume? The Audacity volume slider at the top? That can be bad communications between the computer and the microphone. Did you try plugging the microphone into a different USB socket? Remember if you change USB connections, you have to restart Audacity to find it again. ...

Re: Need Opinion Regarding Recording Quality

1) Although the procedure I outlined looks ok, I'm going to look into compression further. Any suggestions on settings? You could try Chris's Compressor first. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ This is a pre-baked compressor that Chris designed to even o...

Re: Distortion only when using Software Playthrough?

The bass notes are very seriously unstable and they're not clipping. I think the system is feeding back. The reason it doesn't just scream at you like a bad rock night at the club is the system delays. That clip has a bad bit of sound every fraction of second or so. You could get that if you're not ...
