Oh, I believe you, but I wonder if that's not the only thing wrong. Koz

Re: this is unbelievable...

We're pleased you're not a basket case by now, so we'll keep at it. Please know that we're all volunteers and this isn't a help desk. It's a bi-directional forum. Anything we do to help you may be valuable when somebody else comes along with similar problems. You shouldn't think of digital audio as ...

Re: this is unbelievable...

Audacity isn't a WAV editor. It's an audio or production editor. I believe you can go into Audacity Preferences and set things to match 44100, 16-bit, Stereo audio CD format and also stop dithering. We're betting you will not be able to hear the difference. The dithering signal is very low and it's ...

Re: Distortion only when using Software Playthrough?

The problem is not "clipping" it's "skipping". I don't know that I agree. Just looking at the waveforms gives you segments of increased and decreased volume at periodic points very typical of long form feedback. Just leaving off bits doesn't do that. It may be skipping as well, ...

Re: How to create a mp3. For audacity

You don't have to use MP3. If your show is very brief you can use the default WAV sound format. The test clips on my web site are WAV. MP3 is most convenient and normal for longer shows, yes.

Re: How to create a mp3. For audacity

Audacity will not Save a sound file. To get a stand-alone sound file you have to Export one and to Export an MP3 file, you need the additional "lame" software package. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#maclame You can also use iTunes conversions if you...

Re: Stereo Recording (Only One Channel Working)

Is the stereo Line-In socket blue?

http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ ... Final2.jpg

The pink socket is Mic-In and it's mono. Its sound will appear Left-Only on a stereo show.

Re: Stereo Recording (Only One Channel Working)

Are you sure you have a working stereo line-in? Here's another real-world physical test. Disconnect the keyboard and touch each RCA center pin on the cable going to the computer. Hold the connector by the rubber or insulated jacket. Run Audacity in record and turn the record volume slider all the wa...

Re: Audacity MP3 Export iTunes Settings

I ran across this note: If you are an end user and would like to use the Fraunhofer mp3 encoder or decoder, please use Apple iTunes or Windows Media which integrate the Fraunhofer mp3 software. The money-based software packages (Cool Edit, Audition, iTunes etc.) have the original, licensed Fraunhofe...

Re: I cannot get noise removal to get a sound profile

I have some sound files that I got from some old records It's not going to help. If you're trying to suppress the clicks and pops associated with old records, Noise Removal is going to fail. There are other much better tools to clean records. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_copying_ta...
