Re: Noise Reduction Q
Noise Reduction only works on one constant sound. It works in two steps. The Profile step is where you point the tool to a segment of the show with noise only, no performance so the tool can "learn" what the noise is. Step two is where you apply the tool to actually reduce the noise in the...

Re: Recording 2 things at once/muting channels
why the line-in should be stereo and the mic-in is not is also a mystery, as on most laptops they are the same socket No, no, no, no. Most Windows laptops do not have Stereo Line-In. They have Mono Mic-In only. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg They are designed for communica...

the Undo History is not saved. That's important. You can change your mind and UNDO any of your actions as long as you never close Audacity. Even if you save a Project, UNDO is not saved. For long, complex projects we recommend that you save different projects during the course of the show productio...

Re: Removing background noise in Powerpoint 2010 narration t
There is a huge amount is of background noise. How exactly did you record your voice? Did you talk into the built-in microphone of your laptop? Making a good, effective PowerPoint visual presentation can be a piece of cake compared to recording your voice. Recording your voice in a clean and clear ...

Re: Whats this annoying echo sound
I got stuck with that once. One of the other engineers left "Windows Concert Hall Effects running on the machine I was testing. Once I knew that it wasn't hard to find. I don't remember exactly where to look and that may not be the exact name, but that's the idea.

Re: Keeping the amplification the same
If your song or show has long periods of very quiet performance like waiting between dances, Chris may not be a good choice. It will eventually start searching for sound and bring up the noise. In that case you might try Effect > Compressor according to these hints and tips. http://manual.audacityte...

Yes, but it's download software. Download and install Chris's Compressor.

Chris's software is a look-ahead compressor that changes gain and compression through the course of a show to make the volume come out even.

Warm, lush fidelity when you didn't start with any isn't good, either.
It comes down to producing in a way that's pleasing to you. People who mix on vintage Neve desks and use multi-track analog tape machines are right there with you. Surgical accuracy isn't always the best thing.

Re: Recordi Audio From VOB File
I suppose we should find out one more thing. If you play the disk in a DVD Player (not a computer) does it play OK? Computers will play anything, so having a computer play a disk tells you nothing. Koz
