If the digital pathways don't work, then your best option is that high quality, stereo UCA-202.
Here's mine and my mixer.

Re: How do I get "line in" to come up on recording options
I don't know that I would worry about it too much. Mic-In is Mono, not Stereo, and usually can't be connected to a stereo device like your mixer. There is a thousand to one difference in volume between Line and Mic. You can't easily switch them.the speaker jack doubles as a mic jack.

Re: How do I configure my speaker/mic jack as a line in?
external device via mic jack Most people get stuck when they try to connect a stereo device like cassette machine, tape machine, or personal music system to a laptop. Mic-In is for a mono microphone or headset connection only. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg http://www.kozc...

Re: Lost Project
The project was never saved Then where did the Project folder come from? You only get one of those when you Save a Project. On the other hand, if you did not Save a Project, then the temporary cached sound clips would have been cleared when you closed Audacity. Leaving an unsaved or unexported show...

Re: Gain randomly increases without me changing it
Audacity plays all tracks stacked top to bottom at the same time unless you intentionally change it with the MUTE or SOLO buttons. So if you copied one track worth of show to a second one, the combination will double in volume.

Re: Record Mic and Computer Sound Simultaneously
I might actually have all the pieces here to do that show. An old Mac with the busted screen for the recorder (Audacity, of course). The new Mac with the Skype account. The Peavey PV6 has a Post Fade Effects Send. I have a good quality head mount microphone and good headphones. I have an iPod for mu...

Re: Record Mic and Computer Sound Simultaneously
This is good. I think this is the first time anybody told us of the actual podcast so we could rip it apart and see how they did it. Please note that the lead actor sounds like he's air broadcasting. He does not sound like he's recording in a bathroom or a kitchen. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/cli...

Re: Record Mic and Computer Sound Simultaneously
the main host, Scott Johnson, uses a Mac. But I also know he has a PC and a mixer. I might be able to do most of that show with all of those machines and maybe a stand-alone recorder. Fill in the missing parts as needed in post production. One of the computers just does Skype. It's connected to the...

Re: Lost Project
Did you do any editing, filtering, or production? Then no. Production scrambles the clip order. You should go to extraordinary effort to find out what happened to the AUP file. Unless you know exactly what happened, it's likely to happen again. Did you use standard characters inside the filename? No...

Re: to lay one waveform onto another
If I understand this, leave the show stereo and Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. It will mix left and right into one mono show.
